Technical key points of peripheral cannulation to establish the juvenile rats of cardiopulmonary bypass model

Abstract:To establish cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB)model in the juvenile rats by the right femoral artery perfused and the right neck veins intubation drainaged.The CPB model was successfully established in all the fourteen juvenile SD rats.3 rats died in respiratory and heart failure after CPB,the other 11 rats were successfully separated from the external circulation.Those are the key to successful model establishment by peripheral cannulation,venous drainage unobstructed,a reasonable choice of venous drainage needle and primed with whole blood.
