Abstract:We considered nonlinear singular third order periodic boundary value problem{u″'+ρ3u=f(t,u),t∈I=(0,2π),ρ∈(0,1/3~(1/2))u(i)(0)=u(i)(2π),i=0,1,2 and obtained positive solution under some conditions concern to the eigenvalue of relevant linear operator by fixed index theory on cone.

Abstract:A fixed point theorem is used to study a singular second order three-point boundary value problem. The problem is more general. Combining the method of constructing Green functions with operators defined piecewise, the existence result of positive solutions to a singular second order three-point boundary value problem is established. Abstract:We consider the classical nonlinear fourth-order two-point boundary value problem . In this problem, the nonlinear term h(t)f(t, u(t), u′(t), u″(t)) contains the first and second derivatives of the unknown function, and the function h(t)f(t, x, y, z) may be singular at t = 0, t = 1 and at x = 0, y = 0, z = 0. By introducing suitable height functions and applying the fixed point theorem on the cone, we establish several local existence theorems on positive solutions and obtain the corresponding eigenvalue intervals.

The existence of positive solutions is obtained by means of the fixed point index theory in cones.

Abstract:We consider the existence of positive solutions for the following fourth-order singular Sturm–Liouville eigenvalue problems{1p(t)(p(t)u‴(t))′−λg(t)F(t,u,u″)=0,0<t<1,α1u(0)−β1u′(0)=0,γ1u(1)+δ1u′(1)=0,α2u″(0)−β2limt→0+p(t)u‴(t)=0,γ2u″(1)+δ2limt→1−p(t)u‴(t)=0, where λ>0, g,p may be singular at t=0 and/or 1. Moreover, F(t,x,y) may also have singularity at x=0 and/or y=0. By using fixed point theory in cones, an explicit interval for λ is derived such that for any λ in this interval, the existence of at least one positive solution to the boundary value problem is guaranteed. Our results extend and improve many known results including singular and nonsingular cases.

Abstract:This paper deals with the existence of positive solutions for the nonlinear system (q(t)ϕ (p(t)u'_i (t)))' + f^i (t,u) = 0, 0 < t < 1, i = 1,2, … ,n . This system often arises in the study of positive radial solutions of nonlinear elliptic system. Here u = ( u 1 , …, u n ) and f i , i = 1, 2, …, n are continuous and nonnegative functions, p ( t ), q ( t ): [0, 1] → (0, ∞) are continuous functions. Moreover, we characterize the eigenvalue intervals for (q(t)ϕ (p(t)u'_i (t)))' + λ h_i (t)g^i (u) = 0, 0 < t < 1, i = 1,2, … ,n . The proof is based on a well-known fixed point theorem in cones.

We study the nonlinear fourth-order eigenvalue problem on T , u Δ 4 ( t ) = λ h ( t ) f ( u ( t ) , u Δ 2 ( t ) ) , t ∈ [ a , ρ 2 ( b ) ] T , u ( a ) = u Δ ( σ ( b ) ) = u Δ 2 ( a ) = u Δ 3 ( ρ ( b ) ) = 0 and obtain the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions when 0 < λ ≤ λ * and λ > λ * , respectively, for some λ * . The main tools to prove the existence results are the Schauder fixed point theorem and the upper and lower solution method.

Abstract:In this paper, we delve into a discrete nonlinear singular semipositone problem, characterized by a nonlinear boundary condition. The nonlinearity, given by f(u)−auα with α>0, exhibits a singularity at u=0 and tends towards −∞ as u approaches 0+. By constructing some suitable auxiliary problems, the difficulty that arises from the singularity and semipositone of nonlinearity and the lack of a maximum principle is overcome. Subsequently, employing the Krasnosel'skii fixed-point theorem, we determine the parameter range that ensures the existence of at least one positive solution and the emergence of at least two positive solutions. Furthermore, based on our existence results, one can obtain the symmetry of the solutions after adding some symmetric conditions on the given functions by using a standard argument.

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain conditions of existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions for a nonlinear fourth-order differential equation utilizing explicit Green's function and fixed point index theorem combining with operator spectral theorem. We discuss an iteration method for constant coefficient nonlinear differential equations and establish the theorem on the existence of positive solutions for a fourth-order boundary value problem with a variable parameter. Finally, we give an example to illustrate our results.

Abstract:A second-order difference equation with periodic boundary value conditions is studied in this article, the nonlinear term may be singular. A few conditions are given to guarantee the existence of positive periodic solution by fixed-point theorem in cones. Our results can be applied to both superlinearity and semilinearity in the case that the difference equation has no singularity, and can be applied to both strong singularity and weak singularity in the case that the difference equation has a repulsive singularity.
