Abstract:In this paper, using the Mountain Pass Lemma without (PS) con- dition due to Ambrosetti and Rabinowitz, we obtain the existence of the non- trivial solitary waves of Generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation in multi- dimensional spaces and for superlinear nonlinear term f(u) which satisfies some growth condition. By the Pohozaev type variational identity, we obtain the nonexistence of the nontrivial solitary waves for power function nonlinear case, i.e. f(u) = up where p ¸ 2(2n ¡ 1)/(2n ¡ 3).

Abstract:Under investigation is a generalized (3 + 1)-dimensional variable- coefficient Kadomtsev– Petviashvili equation in fluid mechanics. Various exact analytical solutions are obtained by Hirota's bilinear method, such as lump-type, breather wave and kink-solitary wave solutions. We discuss the interaction between lump wave and solitary waves, and the interaction between lump wave and periodic wave. The physical structure and propagation characteristics of obtained solutions are shown by some 3D graphics.

Abstract:The (3 + 1)-dimensional Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation has significant applications that emerge in the study of fluids and multi-component plasmas. The main object of our study is to investigate stable and efficient solitary solutions to the stated wave equations through two different schemes that provide generic solutions like exponential functions, trigonometric functions, hyperbolic functions, etc. The graphical illustrations for different values of the corresponding parameters of the attained solutions are explained in order to expose the intimate structure of the substantial phenomena. In particular, changes in wave position and category with respect to time are deliberated extensively through 2D figures. It has been found that wave velocity depends on some free parameters associated with the methods used to solve the equation. It has been demonstrated that for different values of the free parameters, the obtained solutions of the KP model exhibit dark soliton, peakon shape soliton, dark soliton-type wave, bright soliton, bell-shaped soliton, etc. Moreover, the direction and position of the solitons for the variation of other parameters are measured, from which a simple and comprehensive interpretation of the various aspects of water waves can be obtained. We think the obtained solution could be highly useful for studying nonlinear events in fluid dynamics, wind waves, and wind-generated waves.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a kind of shallow water wave model called the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili-Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (KP-BBM) equation. We firstly consider the unperturbed KP-BBM equation. Then by using the geometric singular perturbation (GSP) theory, especially the invariant manifold theory, method of dynamical system and Melnikov function, the existence of solitary wave solutions of perturbed KP-BBM equation is proved. In other words, we dissuss the equation under different nonlinear terms. Finally, we validate our results with numerical simulations.

Abstract:In this letter, we investigate the dynamics and various interaction scenarios of localized wave structures in the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP)-based system. By using a combination of the Hirota’s bilinear method and the KP hierarchy reduction method, new families of determinant semi-rational solutions of the KP-based system are derived, including lump solitons and rogue-wave solitons. The generic interaction scenarios between distinct types of localized wave solutions are investigated. Our detailed study reveals different types of interaction phenomena: fusion of lumps and line solitons into line solitons, fission of line solitons into lumps and line solitons, a mixture of fission and fusion processes of lumps and line solitons, and the inelastic collision of line rogue waves and line solitons.

Abstract:We construct various kinds of solutions to the elliptic cylindrical Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation, which can be derived in the context of surface gravity waves. This investigation yields a diverse set of analytical outcomes, encompassing the dynamics of horseshoe-like solitons , lump chains, and lump waves. Based on the Hirota bilinear method, the lump chain is derived under specified conjugate constraint conditions. Additionally, we uncover three distinct types of novel interactions among lump waves through the utilization of the long wave limit method. A detailed analysis is conducted to elucidate the features and patterns inherent in these lump waves. The analytic findings presented may providing a descriptive framework for generic weakly nonlinear and weakly dispersive waves.

Abstract:Water waves are common phenomena in nature, which have attracted extensive attention of researchers. In the present paper, we first deduce five kinds of bilinear auto-Bäcklund transformations of the generalized (3+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation starting from the specially exchange identities of the Hirota bilinear operators; then, we construct the N -soliton solutions and several new structures of the localized wave solutions which are studied by using the long wave limit method and the complex conjugate condition technique. In addition, the propagation orbit, velocity and extremum of the first-order lump solution on ( x , y )-plane are studied in detail, and seven mixed solutions are summarized. Finally, the dynamical behaviors and physical properties of different localized wave solutions are illustrated and analyzed. It is hoped that the obtained results can provide a feasibility analysis for water wave dynamics.

Abstract:In this paper, a (3+1)-dimensional generalized Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation is systematically investigated based on the Hirota bilinear method. The explicit N -soliton solution and the bright and dark multi-soliton solutions of it are first derived. Next, various bright and dark higher-order breather solutions, including the periodic line wave solutions, as well as the hybrid solutions composed of solitons, breathers, and periodic line waves, are proposed by virtue of the complex conjugate constraints on the parameters. Then, applying the long wave limit to the N -soliton solution, the bright and dark lump solutions and line rogue wave solutions of the (3+1)-dimensional generalized Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation are constructed. The semi-rational solutions composed of breathers, lumps, solitons, and line rogue waves are further discussed. These new exact solutions all appear in pairs of bright and dark, which can be interpreted by the uplifts and collapses of energy. In addition, the dynamic behaviors of these exact nonlinear wave solutions are vividly demonstrated by their corresponding three-dimensional diagrams, sectional drawings, and density plots with contours.

Abstract:We study solitary waves in the cylindrical Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation designated to media with positive dispersion (the cKP1 equation). By means of the Darboux–Matveev transform, we derive exact solutions that describe two-dimensional solitary waves (lumps), lump chains, and their interactions. One of the obtained solutions describes the modulation instability of outgoing ring solitons and their disintegration onto a number of lumps. We also derive solutions describing decaying lumps and lump chains of a complex spatial structure—ripplons. Then, we study normal and anomalous (resonant) interactions of lump chains with each other and with ring solitons. Results obtained agree with the numerical data presented in Part I of this study [Hu et al., Chaos (2024)].

Abstract:Some new exact solutions of the generalized (3+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation (KPE) are explored in this study. Firstly, the resonant multiple soltion solutions (RMSs) are discussed via employing the linear superposition principle and weight algorithm. Then, by introducing pairs of the conjugate parameters to the RMSs, the complexiton solutions including the non-singular complexiton and singular complexiton solutions are extracted. In addition, the complex multiple kink soliton solutions are also probed by employing the bilinear approach. Finally, we investigate the rational wave solutions via the test function method and symbolic computation. By choosing the appropriate parameters, the graph descriptions of the derived solutions are presented to show the dynamical properties. The outcomes of this work are desirous to bring some new perspective to the study of the complexiton, complex solutions and rational wave solutions to the other PDEs.

Abstract:In this study, we investigate a (3+1)-dimensional KP equation, which is widely used to model the behavior of nonlinear waves in plasma physics and fluid mechanics. First, the multi-soliton solutions of the equation are derived using the Hirota bilinear method. Based on the multi-soliton solutions, heterotypic soliton is obtained by setting the partial dispersion coefficient to zero. Under the complex conjugation of the parameters, high-order breather waves are derived. Additionally, the M -lump wave solutions of the equation are derived by applying the long-wave limit. To gain a deeper understanding of its physical dynamics, we conducted numerical simulations to simulate various characteristics of M -lump waves during their propagation, including their peaks, troughs, propagation velocities, and propagation trajectories. Afterward, by combining the long-wave limit with the complex conjugation of the parameters, we discuss three types of multi-wave interaction phenomena described by this equation and illustrate the collision process between waves in graphical form.

Abstract:In this paper, the linear spectral problem, which associated with the (n+1)-dimensional generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (gKP) equation, with the Jacobi elliptic function as the external potential is investigated based on the Lame function, from which some novel local nonlinear wave solutions on the Jacobi elliptic function have been obtained by Darboux transformation, and the corresponding dynamics have also been discussed. At the same time, the degenerate solutions of the nonlinear wave solutions on the Jacobi function background for the gKP equation are constructed by taking the modulus of the Jacobi function to be 0 and 1. The findings indicate that there can be various types of nonlinear wave solutions with different ranges of spectral parameters, including soliton and breather waves. These results will be useful for elucidating and predicting nonlinear phenomena in related physical fields, such as physical ocean and Bose-Einstein condensates.

Abstract:The localized wave solutions, the rogue wave solutions and interaction solutions of a (3+1)-dimensional generalized Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (GKP) equation were derived. These solutions corresponded to a total of eight sets of parameter relations. The test functions for the rogue wave solutions and the localized solutions were formed by the superposition of positive quadratic functions. Furthermore, the vector tool was specifically introduced in order to obtain the parameter relations in relation to solution functions expressed as superposition formulas. Dynamic analysis were performed on each type of solutions. The properties of all waves were exhibited through concrete examples and graphics.

Abstract:Of concern are traveling wave solutions for the fractional Kadomtsev--Petviashvili (fKP) equation. The existence of periodically modulated solitary wave solutions is proved by dimension breaking bifurcation. Moreover, the line solitary wave solutions and their transverse (in)stability are discussed. Analogous to the classical Kadmomtsev--Petviashvili (KP) equation, the fKP equation comes in two versions: fKP-I and fKP-II. We show that the line solitary waves of fKP-I equation are transversely linearly instable. We also perform numerical experiments to observe the (in)stability dynamics of line solitary waves for both fKP-I and fKP-II equations.

Abstract:Currently, there is much interest in the study on the localized waves and their interactions in fluid mechanics. An extended (3+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation is considered here. By means of the Hirota method, we obtain the N -soliton solutions, with N as a positive integer. The higher-order breather solutions are obtained from the N -soliton solutions employing the complex conjugated transformations. Making use of the long-wave limit method, we determine the higher-order lump solutions via the N -soliton solutions. Besides, some hybrid solutions are presented. Three kind of the localized waves, namely, the solitons, breathers and lumps, along with their interactions, are investigated via the above solutions. Amplitudes, shapes and velocities of those localized waves remain invariant after the interactions, which indicates the interactions are elastic. Abstract:We propose a numerical method for finding solitary wave solutions of generalized Korteweg-de Vries equations by solving the nonlinear eigenvalue problem on an unbounded domain. The artificial boundary conditions are obtained to make the domain finite. We specially discuss the soliton solutions of the K(m,n) equation and KdV–K(m,n) equation. Furthermore for the mixed models of linear and nonlinear dispersion, the collision behaviors of soliton–soliton and soliton–antisoliton are observed.

Abstract:In this study, we focus on investigating a novel extended (3+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev–Petviashvili–Boussinesq-like (KPB-like) equation. Initially, we utilized the Lie symmetry method to determine the symmetry generator by considering the Lie invariance condition. Subsequently, by similar reduction, the equation becomes ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Exact analytical solutions were derived through the power series method, with a comprehensive proof of solution convergence. Employing the (G′/G2)-expansion method enabled the identification of trigonometric, exponential, and rational solutions of the equation. Furthermore, we established the auto-Bäcklund transformation of the equation. Multiple-soliton solutions were identified by utilizing Hirota's bilinear method. The fundamental properties of these solutions were elucidated through graphical representations. Our results are of certain value to the interpretation of nonlinear problems.
