Language Life of Pastoral Community in Cities——Investigation on Language Attitude and Using of Citizens of Xingguang District from Eriyenhot

Abstract:Ecological immigrant community in Xingguang community from Erenhot is a typical "pastoral community" in cities.The Mongolia mastered Mongolian language in the community and they were taught Mongolian or both Mongolian and Chinese in primary school.In family,the homogeneity of language using are high and differences are not obvious between generations.In social occasions,the Mongolians use regional mandarin or both Mongolian and Chinese.They mainly communicate with their neighborhood,relatives and friends who are the same ethnic in Mongolian whereas they use regional mandarin and Mongolian with strangers.Different nations speak highly of the social status of mandarin and Chinese,with the Mongolian and English at the second place.Most Mongolians think Mongolian and mandarin are important for themselves and hope their offsprings to be taught both Mongolian and Chinese.
