Abstract:In this paper, we consider a class of semilinear elliptic Dirichlet problems in a bounded regular domain with cylindrical symmetry involving concave–convex nonlinearities with supercritical growth. Using a new Sobolev embedding theorem and variational method, we show the existence of two positive solutions of the problem. Additionally, we study the quasilinear elliptic equation and obtain a similar result.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence of positive solutions for singular elliptic equations with mixed Dirichlet-Neumann boundary conditions involving Sobolev-Hardy critical exponents and Hardy terms by using the concentration compactness principle, the strong maximum principle and the Mountain Pass lemma. We also prove, under complementary conditions, that there is no nontrivial solution if the domain is star-shaped with respect to the origin.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of positive solutions of semilinear elliptic equations . Asymp- totic behavior of ground states and uniqueness of singular ground states are proved via invariant manifold theory of dynamical systems. The Dirichlet problem in exterior domains is also studied. It is proved that this problem has one positive solution with fast decay and infinitely many positive solutions with slow decay. The asymptotics of the singular sequence of fast decay solutions when p approaches to is also discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the existence of (component-wise) positive solutions for a semilinear elliptic system, where the nonlinear term is superlinear in one equation and sublinear in the other equation. By constructing a cone K-1 x K-2 which is the Cartesian product of two cones in space C((Omega) over bar) and computing the fixed point index in K-1 x K-2, we establish the existence of positive solutions for the system. It is remarkable that we deal with our problem on the Cartesian product of two cones, in which the features of two equations can be exploited better.

Abstract:In this article, we establish the existence of nonnegative solutions to the following quasilinear and singular elliptic problems with supercritical nonlinearity: where is an open, bounded subset of with boundary, h is a positive real-valued function, \(1 and are positive parameters. The main contribution of this paper is the treatment of singular and supercritical nonlinearities on the right-hand side in the presence of the nonhomogeneous -Laplace operator. To demonstrate the existence of a weak solution, we utilise the method of sub and supersolution.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a class of semilinear elliptic equations with a potential function−Δu=λ|x|−αu−|x|σupinΩ∖{0}, where λ,σ∈R, α>0, p>1, and Ω⊂RN (N≥3) is a bounded smooth domain with 0∈Ω. We establish the existence, nonexistence and asymptotic behavior of positive solutions when the potential function |x|−α has strong singularity at the origin. When the potential function |x|−α has weak singularity at the origin, we obtain some qualitative properties of positive solutions.

Our argument is based on a nonexistence result of positive supersolutions of a linear elliptic problem with Hardy potential. We also establish sharp nonexistence results of positive supersolutions to an elliptic system.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the following semilinear elliptic equations of the formwhere ε is a small positive parameter, and where f and g denote superlinear and subcritical nonlinearity. Suppose that b(x) has at least one maximum. We prove that the system has a ground-state solution (ψε, φε) for all sufficiently small ε > 0. Moreover, we show that (ψε, φε) converges to the ground-state solution of the associated limit problem and concentrates to a maxima point of b(x) in certain sense, as ε → 0. Furthermore, we obtain sufficient conditions for nonexistence of ground-state solutions.

Abstract:Positive radial solutions of elliptic equations involving both supercritical and sublinear growth are analysed as their supremum norm tend to infinity. It is shown that they converge, uniformly away from the origin, as well as in H-0(1), to the unique singular solution, so, the open problem (a) in [1] is answered negatively. And, by a method in [4], an infinite number of positive solutions has been obtained.

Abstract:In this article, we consider a quasilinear elliptic equation involving Hardy-Sobolev critical exponents and superlinear nonlinearity. The right hand side nonlinearity f(x, u) which is (p - 1)-superlinear nearby 0. However, it does not satisfy the usual Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition (AR-condition). Instead we employ a more general condition. Using a variational approach based on the critical point theory and the Ekeland variational principle, we show the existence of two nontrivial positive solutions. Moreover, the obtained results extend some existing ones.

Abstract:This paper deals with the existence of nontrivial solutions of some semilinear cooperative elliptic systems involving critical Sobolev exponent. It is well-known that one of the most important problem of elliptic system is to find the really nontrivial solution. Under some conditions we obtain the existence of nontrivial solution by analyzing the best Sobolev embedding constant and by use of the minimax theorems without (PS) conditions.In fact,the solution we obtained here is really nontrivial in the sense of every unknown functions being nontrivial.
