Abstract:Objective To explore the protective effect of hyperbaric oxygen exposure on the kidney injury in rats with exercise-induced fatigue. Methods Thirty healthy 4-week old male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:control, fatigue model and fatigue model plus hyperbaric oxygen exposure(HBO) groups.Rats in fatigue model group were treated with hyperbaric oxygen exposure. Blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and serum creatinine(Cre).content of malondialdehyde(MDA) in kidney homogenates, and the pathological change in renal tissue of the rats were measured or observed 8 weeks after the experiment. Results CD Swimming duration of the hyperbaric oxygen exposure group was significantly longer than that of the fatigue model group(P<0.05).?The content of BUN and Cre in renal tissue of rats revealed significant difference among the three groups(P<0.01),and in fatigue model group was significantly higher than that in other two groups(P<0.05).(3) The MDA content in renal tissue was significantly different among the three groups(P<0.01),and in fatigue model group was significantly higher than that in other two groups(P<0.01).The activity of SOD demonstrated significant difference among the three groups(P<0.01),and in fatigue model group was significantly lower than that in other two groups(P<0.01).(4) Disordered and sparsely disarranged renal tubules, serious degeneration of tubules and glomerulus, karyopyknosis, rarefaction and porosity of medullary interstitial structure in renal tissue were seen in the fatigue model group, while the morphology of renal tissue in HBO group was more close to the normal control group. Conclusion Hyperbaric oxygen exposure effectively improves the swimming duration, reduces the content of MDA,increases the activity of SOD,alleviates the pathological changes of renal tissue in fatigued rats.
