Abstract:[Objective] The research aimed to investigate and assess the types and extents of the damage to dominant species in evergreen broad-leaf forest by unusual heavy snow and ice in early 2008,Daming Mountain Nature Reserve.[Method] Eighty plots 20 m×20 m(3.2 hm2)were placed in typical damaged areas in May,2009,and of which six dominant species of the disaster situation were investigated.[Result] The hit rate of different species varied,of which the rate of Acer fabric was the highest, the rate of Litsea suberosa was the lowest. The rate of crown damage among various types was the highest, and the rate of uprooted was the lowest. The hit rate between species, the rate of crown damaged and the rate of trunk broken were significantly different. The species were not affected and the types of disasters between the tree height, diameter at breast height, crown length were significantly different.[Conclusion]The formation of frozen disaster type was related to the size of trees.Huodendron biaristatum,Acer fabric and Diospyros morrisiana were more likely to be uprooted and crown damaged.
