Abstract:Comparing with traditional media, Internet media has the characteristics of diversity, interactive property, tolerant property, quick property, repeatability, virtual property and magnanimity etc. These characteristics and functions finally support and cause a big revolution in the field of information spreading. In order to strengthen the management of internet media, we have to find the characteristics of the internet, stick on the right public opinion guidance, formu- late the scientific management regulations, and at the same time to meet the needs of different people and try to wake up the numb culturally spirit also.

Abstract:Through an analysis of the symbols and characteristics of different physical types of the mass media——printing, radio TV, Internet, etc., a conclusion is reached that different types of the media has different advantages of its own and that the Internet is impossible to completely replace the traditional types of the media. There will always be a co\|existence of different types of the media, each functioning in communication and affecting man's life in different ways.

Abstract:Chinese netizens have been playing an inevitable role in the deveopment of Internet in China.At present,they have been showing a number of typical characteristics,which have not only exerted much influence on the development path of the Chinese Internet,but also reflected to a certain extent the complicated process of our Chinese society.The present typical characteristics of netizens in Mainland China find their expression mainly in the following aspects.Firstly,they show such characterisitc demands and desires as: they have an increasingly intense desire to understand the envirenment;they possess an increasingly strong desire to express themselves freely and to freely participate in social activities;their marginal demands are on the increase.Secondly,they display such behavioural features as: deconstructive behaviour tends to cause sensational effects;violent behaviour tends to be stirred up;group influential power tends to be strong.Thirdly,they demonstrate such thinking features as: calling some issues in question has become the keynote of some netizens' thinking pattern;some netizens are likely to be dominated by simplified thinking modes.Fourthly,they possess such value orientation features as: dual moral character;culturally rebellious nature;politically radical trait.Why do Chinese netizens possess such thinking,attitudinal,and behavioural features? Substantially,it is not because the Internet has changed them.It is because their typical features are grounded upon the current reality.

Abstract:Having the advantage of reaching massive audience, mainstream media can frequently influence public opinions and attitudes. However, recent statistical data shows that the average user stickiness of mainstream media websites is much lower, in comparison with other types of media websites in China. To gain insights into this phenomenon, we construct a model to examine the impacts of various website attributes and user influence on user stickiness. Our empirical analysis demonstrates that media website attributes and user characteristics have different effects on user stickiness. Our results shed fresh light on how to enhance mainstream media website user stickiness in a competitive and ever-evolving landscape.

Abstract:The objective of the article is to determine the main trends in development of online media in China. In modern China, as in most developed countries, online media have become the most influential and stable. The relevant literature on the trends in development of Chinese online media and media models driven by algorithms has been systematically reviewed and analyzed. A case study method was used to analyze in detail the working principles of the Toutiao and Douyin algorithms, as well as their economic and political advantages. It is shown that with transformation of China‘s traditional media industry, online media that work under the algorithm model (i.e., as personalized media), and especially the short videos have begun to gain weight as the main force of government propaganda and economic stimulation of consumption. The use of short video accounts is expanding. It is no longer just an exchange of videos from life, but a function of communication between business advertising and online shopping. The personalized media represented by algorithms successfully influence the consumer. But they can lead to cognitive fatigue of the audience, and then can have a negative impact in the long term.

Abstract:The authors investigated the periodical web pages provided by the China Journal Net and the Wanfang Digital Periodical,and clicked the web sites from a search on sina.com using "journal" as the to make an analysis.The result shows that China's periodical web pages lack individuality and interaction with the authors and readers.The main reason is that the editors fail to care the periodical brand effect.Cooperative and synthetic webs are the trend of characterized periodical webs that combine specialized periodicals with industrial information,and combine university journals with science research information.

Abstract:The Chinese cybersphere is one of the world’s most active online spaces. On one hand, there are traditional mainstream media outlets, which are part of the State or either subject to commercial market needs. On the other hand, social media platforms have arisen: there, users are empowered, and they even allow journalism without the need for journalistic organizations. Using content analysis, we examined the interactive features of 20 English-language media located in mainland China. We found that the media incorporated more options related to usability or promotion through social media than user-generated content. Through hierarchical cluster analysis, we identified a new typology for understanding the roles adopted by the selected media: we observed a distinctive category of online information organizations—source-oriented media. Such media do not attempt to establish user communities: their target is consultation and shared social media platforms.

Abstract:Considering the importance of China's digital economy, industrial Internet, and high-quality development, this study analyzed China's urban network from the perspective of the communications technology service industry. Three sub-networks (R & D, sales, and investment) and a comprehensive network were constructed. The density, centrality, and cohesive subgroups of the above network were identified. The results show that: (1) cohesion of urban networks in China is weak and resource sharing is low. (2) From west to east, the urban network forms a multilevel diamond structure in the periphery, a parallelogram structure in the semiperiphery, and a triangle structure in the center. (3) The spatial distribution of cohesive subgroups is scattered, disobeying the first law of geography. By constructing sub-networks and a comprehensive network, the subnetworks that dominate China's urban networks were identified and their typical characteristics described. This study clarifies the technical support pattern behind China's digital economy development and industrial internet construction and provides a basis for policy-makers to optimize the country's high-quality development in the future.

Abstract:A country’s discursive power,to a great extent,is determined by the power and influences of its media.Western developed countries as well as rising developing countries are all making great efforts in promoting their media for worldwide influence in order to get more discursive power in the international competition.The internet plays an important role in international discursive power competition,given its unique attributes: the internet is born to be a globalized medium that can transcend the time and space;and also internet communication is asymmetrical,which can aggregate the dispersive voices and greatly expand weak voices.To compete for international discursive power,China must build a strong and competitive internet communication entity,advance the international communication capacity of domestic websites,promote overseas development for important websites,and fulfill the convergence of traditional and new media.Also,China must create appealing and attractive internet content,show contemporary China to the world,promote the cultural heritage of traditional China,make China’s voices heard more quickly in important events,and develop localized content overseas.In addition,China must establish a more targeted and effective internet communication strategy in order to show the real china to the world.

Abstract:Abstract This paper aims to compare the similarities and differences of Chinese and foreign research on social media. Cluster analysis, co-word analysis and social network analysis have been used to compare the research trends, content relevance and network structure of research on social media. (1) Similarities: Social media is a hot topic for scholars both in China and foreign countries; the development of social network technology leads to many new areas; social media research tends to study privacy, commerciality and service; hotspots of social media research in China and foreign countries both include social media, platform and social network. (2) Difference: Chinese research mainly focuses on big data, Wechat and Weibo, while foreign research mainly focuses on Facebook, Twitter and other kinds of social network media; Chinese research is clustered while foreign research is extensive; Chinese research pays more attention on macroscopic perspectives, such as media convergence, big data and libraries; foreign research tends to microcosmic perspectives, such as emotional analysis, crisis information dissemination, social media marketing.

Abstract:From the perspective of internet information production (IIP) and internet information consumption (IIC), we interpreted the spatial patterns of the internet industry in China based on top commercial websites. The findings demonstrated more obvious industrial clustering compared with that in Western countries, highlighting the rise of internet cities in China. The differences amongst diverse website themes generate disparities between IIP and IIC, suggesting future developmental trends of these internet cities. The specialised division of internet cities remains somewhat consistent with the local context. The government plays a key role in the early stage of China's internet industry, enabling cities involved in internet industry at the initial stage gains first-mover advantages, leading to the uneven patterns of spatial patterns since then. Though the role of government in the development of internet industry should still be emphasised, the success of internet cities finally depends on whether their specialisation meets the market demand.

Abstract:Although studies acknowledge that the level of digitalization in the media domain plays an important role for Internet use, conceptual and operational ambiguities remain as to whether digitalization speaks to an infrastructural attribute of societies and countries or instead refers to digitized media preferences and use of individuals. Using survey data from Europe, China, and the United States, this study examines both micro (individual) and macro (infrastructural) levels of digitalization and their interaction effects on use of the Internet. Through multilevel regression modeling, this study reveals that individual-level digitalization negatively relates to Internet news consumption, but positively relates to use of the Internet for other purposes. In addition, it shows that infrastructural-level digitalization only positively and significantly affects the use of the Internet for news consumption and for work-related purposes. The study further reveals cross-level interactions of digitalization on Internet use.

Abstract:The emergence of new social strata and plural identities are two of the most profound changes in China's social transition toward integration into the global economic system. Differentiating three dimensions of cultural citizenship identity (i.e., cosmopolitan, national, and local), this study seeks to depict the paths of influence in the formation of such identities that involve reality construction by the media and evolving patterns of social stratification. Analysing data from a 2009 Shanghai survey, we found a strong relationship between individuals' consumption of local media contents and their local identity. Further, their perceptions of media's centripetal and centrifugal forces have significant effects on their identities, and the Internet has different effects from the traditional media, although such influences vary across different social strata.

Abstract:With the huge number of Web pages on the World Wide Web, there are many characteristics that should be analyzed in the Web mining fields. As a subset of the global Web graph, China Web graph shows many different properties compared with the global Web graph from the structure to the evolution of the Web. In this paper, we indicate to study the China Web graph both on its static and dynamic nature, and then to analyze the similarity and difference between the global Web graph and China Web graph. A number of measurements and properties of the China Web graph are reported both on the Web page level and Web site level. Finally the evolution of the China Web graph will be represented from several aspects.
