Distribution and origins of organic carbon and organic nitrogen in ECS sediments of high-frequency HABs areas

Abstract:In this study,the organic carbon and organic nitrogen were analyzed completely,and their origins were also discussed.The conclusions were following:The content of organic carbon in the sediment ranges from 0.32% to 0.82%in 2005,while it ranges from 0.043% to 0.78% in 2006,and the average value is 0.32%.The content of organic nitrogen in the sediment ranges from 0.047% to 0.11% in 2005,and the average value is 0.091%,while it ranges from 0.006% to 0.10% in 2006,and the average value is 0.046%.The distribution trends of the organic carbon and organic nitrogen in HB08 core with the increase depth were similar to each other.With the increase of depth,the content of them in sediments were first decreased and then increased,and decreased again.The content of organic carbon ranges from 0.33% to 0.57%,and from 0.045% to 0.080% for organic nitrogen.The average values are 0.43% and 0.057%,respectively.But there is a little difference from organic carbon and organic nitrogen in Rb12 core sediments.The content of organic carbon ranges from 0.32% to 0.52%,and from 0.047% to 0.082% for organic nitrogen The ratio of organic carbon and organic nitrogen(mol/mol) in the sediments of 2006 and the HB08 and Rb12 core is mainly between 7 and 10,which means that the organic matter in the sediment mainly were come from the phytoplankton in the seawater.
