Abstract:Passing through process from common higher research to theory construction of study of higher education,higher research in China develops a kind of style with own characteristics in world.In China,the study of higher is not only a subject forming own system but also a high opening research field.Though idea of the study of higher education will have never been put forward in western countries,the study of higher education in China can still be called subject. Higher researchers in China should enhance sense of mission,prompt development of higher research in China more reasonablely and consciously,then establish a much opener and much autonomous subject system of higher education,and gradually form subject school of higher with China characteristics or China school of higher research.

Abstract:Social work education in China has expanded rapidly since it was reintroduced in 1988. This has led to a growing body of English language literature on the development of social work education in China. However, thus far, this literature lacks an empirical foundation and little research on students' perspectives has been done. To fill this gap, this paper reports on a qualitative study of a group of graduating social work students (n = 32) from four social work programmes in Jinan, the provincial capital of the Shandong Province. Three major findings are reported. Firstly, the students liken their social work learning experience to a roller coaster ride with many ups and downs. Secondly, the cultural compatibility of western social work in China has not yet been conclusively established, while an ‘indigenized’ social work needs to be compatible with Chinese family values, referred to as ‘familism’ in direct Chinese to English translation, and with the dominant socialist political ideology. Thirdly, the future of social work is bright given increasing government support for its development.

Abstract:In response to the urgent need for professionally trained social workers to help in alleviating emerging social problems in China after the introduction of the market economy, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Peking University launched a Master of Social Work (China) Program for social work educators in 2000, with the aim of developing a critical mass of social work educators to take up the future leadership in developing social work and social work education in China. To date, seven cohorts of over 230 students consisting of social work educators, NGO and government officials have been admitted to the program, and graduates of the program are playing a pivotal role in spearheading the development of social work education and fostering social development through the process. In this paper, the authors will present the vision and mission of the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program, the teaching and learning strategies adopted, and the ways in which the program has facilitated social change and social development through its educational process.

Abstract:The Sixth Plenum of the 16th CPC Central Committee pointed out that we should make great effort in social work development to promote the construction of the harmonious society.Currently,the main fields of social work in our country focus on the elderly,the disabled,children and other social groups,but not college students.This paper proposes that the ideas and methods of social work should be applied to college students,and demonstrates from both the necessity and feasibility.Finally,it uses an example of college student's employment to investigate how to put it into practice.

Abstract:Social work education in China has experienced a very rapid expansion in recent years. Top Chinese leaders have advocated strongly for social work and in 2006, the government launched a series of new social policy initiatives aimed at professionalizing social work. This has provided an opportunity for researchers and educators to think about the possible impact and future challenges confronting the civil affairs sector and social work educators. In this paper, the authors will provide an analysis of the recent development of social work education in China, and also highlight the major challenges that social work educators and the social services sectors will encounter in the context of the professionalization of social work.

Abstract:This article aims to explain the rapid development of social work education theoretically in the transitional period in China and analyze the paths and strategies of various schools' developing professional education. The author argues that social work schools in different regions use the similar path but somehow adopt specifically divergent strategies in promoting social work education, which shows an unbalanced regionalisation of professional education development in China. Based on the consideration of governmental development plan, the author briefly discusses the future direction of social work education and practice in China.

Abstract:Under the structural changes during the reform and opening-up, social work education has been re-established for 30-year in China with the efforts from different actors. It develops rapidly, and even the effects may be unbalanced. As the re-established subject and career, social work education and practice are sub-structures in nature. Their developments are affected strongly by the economic-social transformation and political system. The process is a sub-structural development. The re-establishment of social work is a process of multi-subjects construction: It is led by government policies while the government and academic groups collaborate for it. The groups of social work educators and practitioners facilitate the process. The overseas academic groups support and cooperate for it. These actors facilitate the development of social work education and profession. The social work develops the path with its characteristics. It is compatible with reform and development. The reflection on professional development is also be required.

Abstract:Social work education was first developed in China in the 1920s, but was eliminated from the universities in the early 1950s. When social work was reintroduced in the late 1980s, there was neither the professional expertise nor the experience to develop it and educators had to search for their own direction. Since the 1990s social work education has been confronted with many problems, and social work educators have had to struggle to find their way. Three major sources of tension were identified: between individual treatment and social reform; between standardization and contextualization; and between professionalism and populism. The emerging pattern is characterized by responsiveness to community change and social development; its partnership with the government and its commitment to indigenization.

Abstract:As the social work profession emerged, the primary method for training social workers was the apprentice model, now referred to as field education. In 2008, the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) declared field education the signature pedagogy of social work education in the Educational Policies and Standards (EPAS), thus connecting it to accreditation. Despite this prioritization over other areas of social work education, debate continues as to whether field education meets the criteria of signature pedagogy. This study applied a contextual analysis to determine the extent to which a sample of 16 undergraduate social work programs demonstrate alignment with the signature pedagogy designation. The tool for analysis was the EPAS self-study, a primary document required in the CSWE accreditation process. The selected criteria for examination were two defining features of signature pedagogy: evidence of widespread recognition and routine inclusion across the curriculum. Findings revealed significant variation in both criteria areas among the sample group, likely influenced by ambiguity regarding signature pedagogy found within the EPAS. While data within the EPAS self-studies substantiates the important role of field education, additional themes revealed an opportunity to re-define and expand the signature pedagogy of the profession that could benefit both social work education and the practice community.

Abstract:homogenous practice models may not be able to reflect the diversity of social work practice in China. The third weakness is that because some practice models were initiated by the researchers, the services were discontinued when the research project ended. Several authors discussed how the clients returned to their status quo before the research projects. The action researchers should pay more attention to the continuity of services and their ethical obligations to clients if they decide to take on practitioner roles in the first place. In all, this book is a valuable reading on the most current development of social work practice in China. The research projects were innovative, indigenous and practical. It is inspiring to see how the Chinese social work researchers bravely undertook their missions to promote social work practice. They played an important role in designing social service models and building the infrastructure of social work in China. I recommend this book to social work professionals in China who need creative ideas for developing social work practice from scratch. I would also recommend this book to social work researchers outside China who would like to know how social work has developed in China’s unique cultural and historical background.

Abstract:<span>The contemporary development of Chinese social work has occurred in the context of strong engagement with international education exchanges and curriculum. Many issues in training students for practice have emerged. This study explored how Chinese students learned social work in two different educational contexts in China and Australia. A qualitative insider researcher approach with thematic analysis was used to explore learning experiences of two cohorts of participants over a two-year period. The first cohort studied social work in China only, while the second cohort studied both in China and in Australia. Five key themes emerged. The first three themes related to learning experiences, and the other two themes related to interactions with teachers and support systems. These five themes suggest that social work is learned in very different forms in China and Australia. Recommendations are made for better understanding of these differences and the resulting impacts for Chinese students.</span>

Abstract:Objective: To explore the implementation methods and effects of reflective education, and to provide references for the development of reflective education in Chinese nursing schools. Methods: Relevant literature was searched from China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, Wipro Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database, and PubMed Database, and the included studies were analyzed descriptively. Results: The implementation of reflective education included work-site education, group discussion, video teaching, self-reflection, and expert lectures; the interventions mainly included study groups, role-playing, individual instruction, peer cooperation, demonstration and observation, field simulation, and video presentations. The implementation of reflective education can improve the sense of professional identity and professional competence of nursing interns, and reduce nursing errors and adverse events. Conclusion: Currently, nurses in China lack self-awareness and critical thinking skills, it is recommended that reflective education be incorporated into the teaching content of undergraduate nursing students during their internship in order to promote the development of professionalism and humanistic caring skills of nursing students.
