Abstract:Let (M, g) be a compact Kähler manifold and f a positive smooth function such that its Hamiltonian vector field $K = J\mathrm {grad}_g f$ for the Kähler form $\omega _g$ is a holomorphic Killing vector field. We say that the pair (g, f) is conformally Einstein–Maxwell Kähler metric if the conformal metric $\tilde{g} = f^{-2}g$ has constant scalar curvature. In this paper we prove a reductiveness result of the reduced Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields for conformally Einstein–Maxwell Kähler manifolds, extending the Lichnerowicz–Matsushima Theorem for constant scalar curvature Kähler manifolds. More generally we consider extensions of Calabi functional and extremal Kähler metrics, and prove an extension of Calabi’s theorem on the structure of the Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields for extremal Kähler manifolds. The proof uses a Hessian formula for the Calabi functional under the set up of Donaldson-Fujiki picture.

Abstract:The conformai properties of complex Finsler metrics are studied. We first give a characterization of a compact complex Finsler manifold to be globally conformai Kahler. By considering the total holomorphic curvature and total Ricci curvature in the volume preserved conformal classes, we then study the variational properties of Kahler Finsler metrics. By studying the spectral properties of two average metrics, the stabilities of critical Kähler Finsler metrics are verified. Finally, a Yamabe type problem for mean holomorphic Ricci curvature is considered, and a partial existence result is obtained.

Abstract:We prove several formulas related to Hodge theory and the Kodaira–Spencer–Kuranishi deformation theory of Kähler manifolds. As applications, we present a construction of globally convergent power series of integrable Beltrami differentials on Calabi–Yau manifolds and also a construction of global canonical family of holomorphic (n,0) -forms on the deformation spaces of Calabi–Yau manifolds. Similar constructions are also applied to the deformation spaces of compact Kähler manifolds.

Abstract:Given a polarized Kähler manifold (X,L). The space ℋ of Kähler metrics in $$ 2_\Pi {c_1}{(L)}$$ is an infinite-dimensional Riemannian symmetric space. As a metric space, it has non-positive curvature. There is associated to ℋ a sequence of finite-dimensional symmetric spaces $$ \mathcal{B}_{k}{({k}\, \epsilon \,\mathbb{N})} $$ of non-compact Type. We prove that ℋ is the limit of $$ \mathcal{B}_{k} $$ as metric spaces in certain sense. As applications, this provides more geometric proofs of certain known geometric properties of the space ℋ.

Abstract:We study an eigenvalue problem for the Laplacian on a compact Kähler manifold. Considering the $k$-th eigenvalue $\lambda_{k}$ as a functional on the space of Kähler metrics with fixed volume on a compact complex manifold, we introduce the notion of $\lambda_{k}$-extremal Kähler metric. We deduce a condition for a Kähler metric to be $\lambda_{k}$-extremal. As examples, we consider product Kähler manifolds, compact isotropy irreducible homogeneous Kähler manifolds and flat complex tori.

Abstract:This paper concerns the explicit construction of extremal Kaehler metrics on total spaces of projective bundles, which have been studied in many places. We present a unified approach, motivated by the theory of hamiltonian 2-forms (as introduced and studied in previous papers in the series) but this paper is largely independent of that theory. We obtain a characterization, on a large family of projective bundles, of those `admissible' Kaehler classes (i.e., the ones compatible with the bundle structure in a way we make precise) which contain an extremal Kaehler metric. In many cases, such as on geometrically ruled surfaces, every Kaehler class is admissible. In particular, our results complete the classification of extremal Kaehler metrics on geometrically ruled surfaces, answering several long-standing questions. We also find that our characterization agrees with a notion of K-stability for admissible Kaehler classes. Our examples and nonexistence results therefore provide a fertile testing ground for the rapidly developing theory of stability for projective varieties, and we discuss some of the ramifications. In particular we obtain examples of projective varieties which are destabilized by a non-algebraic degeneration.

Abstract:We prove the existence of Kahler-Einstein metric on a K-stable Fano manifold using the recent compactness result on Kahler-Ricci flows. The key ingredient is an algebro-geometric description of the asymptotic behavior of Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. This is in turn based on a general finite dimensional discussion, which is interesting in its own and could potentially apply to other problems. As one application, we relate the asymptotics of the Calabi flow on a polarized Kahler manifold to K-stability assuming bounds on geometry.

Abstract:This paper, the second of a series, deals with the function space R of all smooth Kahler metrics in any given n-dimensional, closed complex manifold V, these metrics being restricted to a given, fixed, real cohomology class, called a polarization of V. This function space is equipped with a pre-Hilbert metric structure introduced by T. Mabuchi [10], who also showed that, formally, this metric has nonpositive curvature. In the first paper of this series [4], the second author showed that the same space is a path length space. He also proved that 7 is geodesically convex in the sense that, for any two points of H, there is a unique geodesic path joining them, which is always length minimizing and of class C-1,C-1. This partially verifies two conjectures of Donaldson [8] on the subject. In the present paper, we show first of all, that the space is, as expected, a path length space of nonpositive curvature in the sense of A. D. Aleksandrov. A second result is related to the theory of extremal Kahler metrics, namely that the gradient flow in H of the "K energy" of V has the property that it strictly decreases the length of all paths in H, except those induced by one parameter families of holomorphic automorphisms of M.

Abstract:Motivated by the notion of multiplier Hermitian-Einstein metric of type $\sigma$ introduced by Mabuchi, we introduce the notion of $\sigma$-extremal Kähler metrics on compact Kähler manifolds, which generalizes Calabi's extremal Kähler metrics. We characterize the existence of this metric in terms of the coercivity of a certain functional on the space of Kähler metrics to show that, on a Fano manifold, the existence of a multiplier Hermitian-Einstein metric of type $\sigma$ implies the existence of a $\sigma$-extremal Kähler metric.

Abstract:In the infinite dimensional space of Kahler potentials, the geodesic equation of disc type is a complex homogenous Monge-Amp re equation. The partial regularity theory established by Chen and Tian [C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, Ser. I 340 (5) (2005)] amounts to an improvement of the regularity of the known C-1,C-1 solution to the geodesic of disc type to almost everywhere smooth. For such an almost smooth solution, we prove that the K-energy functional is sub-harmonic along such a solution. We use this to prove the uniqueness of extremal Kahler metrics and to establish a lower bound for the modified K-energy if the underlying Kahler class admits an extremal Kahler metric. Abstract:We show that if a compact Kaehler manifold M of non-negative Ricci curvature admits closed Fedosov star product then the reduced Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields on M is reductive. This comes in pair with the obstruction previously found by La Fuente-Gravy. More generally we consider the squared norm of Cahen-Gutt moment map as in the same spirit of Calabi functional for the scalar curvature in cscK problem, and prove a Cahen-Gutt version of Calabi's theorem on the structure of the Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields for extremal Kaehler manifolds. The proof uses a Hessian formula for the squared norm of Cahen-Gutt moment map.

Abstract:Generalizing previous results of Arezzo-Pacard-Singer, Seyyedali-Székelyhidi and Hallam, we prove the invariance under smooth blowups of the class of weighted extremal Kähler manifolds, modulo a log-concavity assumption on the first weight. Through recent work of Di Nezza-Jubert-Lahdili and Han-Liu, this is obtained as a consequence of a general uniform coercivity estimate for the (relative, weighted) Mabuchi energy on the blowup, which applies more generally to any equivariant resolution of singularities of Fano type of a compact Kähler klt space whose Mabuchi energy is assumed to be coercive.

Abstract:Consider a compact Kähler manifold which either admits an extremal Kähler metric, or is a small deformation of such a manifold. We show that the blowup of the manifold at a point admits an extremal Kähler metric in Kähler classes making the exceptional divisor sufficiently small if and only if it is relatively K-stable, as predicted by the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture. We also give a geometric interpretation of what relative K-stability means in this case in terms of finite dimensional geometric invariant theory. This gives a complete solution to a problem introduced and solved by Arezzo, Pacard, Singer and Székelyhidi for constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics in dimension at least three.

Abstract:On a Kähler manifold we consider the problems of maximizing/minimizing Monge--Ampère energy over certain subsets of the space of Kähler potentials. Under suitable assumptions we prove that solutions to these variational problems exist, are unique, and have a simple characterization. We then use the extremals to construct hermitian metrics on holomorphic vector bundles, and investigate their curvature.

Abstract:We begin by defining a type of Kähler metric near the zero section of a trivial holomorphic open disk bundle $N$ over a compact Kähler manifold $X$ by incorporating flows generated by holomorphic vector fields on $X$. These metrics are then shown to deviate exponentially from Poincaré-type metrics on $N\setminus X$ in terms of the log-polar distance from $X$ in $N$. Lastly we see that they arise naturally when perturbing classes containing Poincaré-type Kähler metrics of constant scalar curvature to obtain nearby cscK metrics even when the perturbed class on $X$ does not admit a cscK metric.
