Analysis of the Rate of Permanent Residents' Awareness of the Knowledge for Prevention and Oontrol of Tuberoulosis in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province

Abstract:Objective To understand the present situation of the permanent residents' aware-ness of TB prevention and control knowledge in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province,which can provide a scientific basis to further strengthen tuberculosis health education.Methods More than 3000 permanent residents' in nine cities were sampled to carry out the questionnaire survey of ANTI-TB knowledge by stratified systematic random sampling method, those who are 12-year-old to 60 years old.Results Surveyor's total awareness of TB knowledge is 49.8％ while the complete awareness of the core information is merely 1.9％.The awareness of TB prevention and control knowledge in adolescents and elderly can not be. optimistic, which is in less educated person,farmers and students.There is no significant difference of the awareness between urban and rural dwellers (P>0.05).There 's only 15.6％ awareness of "It should be suspected TB if somebody gets more than three weeks cough, hemnptysis or Bloody sputum symptoms".Conclusions There are some progress of TB health education in the Pearl River Delta region of Gnangdong Province,but there is a wide gap to catch up with the national planning objectives and requirements, to strengthen health education is very the importance for tuberculosis prevent and eontol.
