Region Selection and Decision-making Optimization in Utilizing Foreign Iron Ore Resource

Abstract:Though China is rich in iron ore resource,the supply of domestic iron ore resource is on a continuous shrink due to its poor natural conditions and little economically mineable reserve.Therefore,to exploit and utilize foreign iron ore resource has become a necessity while the regions of foreign iron ore resource ideal for China's utilization should meet some conditions.For this,starting from the conditions for the selection of ideal regions,the paper expounds systematically that Australia,Brazil,India,South Africa and Russia are not only the target regions for China to utilize the foreign iron ore resource in a way of spot transaction and also a selection of ideal regions for "going out" to make risky exploration.In the light of the fact that spot transaction is now the main way for importing and utilizing foreign iron ore resource and it will continue to occupy an important position in the future,and in order to use the least foreign exchange to obtain the needed iron ore resource and to provide the basis for policy decision in the price offering and the major propping-ups by policy,a brief analysis of the optimization of the policy decision in China′s iron ore import is made.
