Abstract:This paper summarized the artificial airway humidification methods,such as artificial nasal humidification method,wet gauze to cover method,endotracheal drip to humidification method,ultrasonic atomization inhalation method,the direct spray wet process method,and the existing problems; introduced several aspects of requiring taking attention to,namely to moist fluid selection,moist fluid temperature,humidity control,moist fluid volume and speed.In clinical artificially airway nursing right moist method can alleviate the suffering of patients,and promote their recovery. Research Progress of Humidification-Dehumidification Desalination Process

Abstract:Humidification-dehumidification（HDH） desalination process serves as an important supplement to traditional desalination processes.In this work,HDH systems are classified according to the use of latent heat,material circulation,form of driving,heat and mass transfer methods and energy supply.Components of the HDH systems,such as humidifier,dehumidifier and energy supply module,were analyzed in detail.Performance indices of the HDH systems were summarized.Finally,design suggestions for HDH systems were proposed in terms of material,desalination technology,structural design,etc.

Abstract:Shortage of fresh water is a big problem currently and water extraction from air is an effective way to solve this problem. This review gives basic concepts and theoretical foundation of three unconventional techniques for water extraction from air (condensation, absorption/desorption and collecting fog). Research on adsorption materials and biomimetic materials is reviewed and the characteristics of three water extracting equipment are summarized. The development of high performance materials and design of integrated processes are key in related studies. Future prospects of water extraction from air are discussed.

Abstract:Objective To search,evaluate,and summarize the best evidence on artificial airway humidification management for adult ICU patients at home and abroad,and to provide a reference for clinical practice. Methods We searched all relevant databases and websites about all relevant literature related to the management of airway humidification in adult ICU patients,then selected the literature that met the inclusion criteria,evaluated their quality and extracted evidence. The retrieval period was from the inception of databases to April 2022. Results A total of 13 articles were included,including 1 clinical decision,3 guidelines,5 systematic reviews,2 evidence summaries,and 2 expert consensuses. From 7 dimensions including the scope of application of artificial airway humidification,humidification device,humidification method,humidification fluid,assessment and monitoring,auxiliary therapy,and personnel organization,15 best evidences were summarized. Conclusion This study summarizes the best evidence for the management of airway humidification in adult ICU patients. Medical staff should also select the evidence in a targeted manner based on the actual clinical situation before application,to improve the effects of airway humidification and reduce the incidence of airway complications in patients.

Relevant Analysis of Mechanical Ventilation in Humidification of Artificial Airway

Abstract:Mechanical Ventilation is a mechanically assist improving oxygen supply,adjusting carbon dioxide level and the body acid-base equilibrium,which use ventilator to increase ventilation and decrease work of breathing.But the establishing of artificial airway disables the respiratory function of warming and humidifying the airflow and increase the water loss which cause the dried respiratory secretions and lower cilia activity,and leads to severe complications like airway obstruction,atelectasis,or the increase of infection rate.It is documented that the lung infection rate increases with deceasing of airway humidity.And with highly humidification,even for the coma patients without cough reflex,their airway cilia activity can be maintained to ensure the efficient drainage of respiratory secretions,which keep the patency of the artificial airway.Variety of humidifying equipment emerges as the improvement of medical technology,and more humidifying agents are available.Large clinical researches have been done and the humidifying method and the choice of agent are summarized in this paper.
Clinical study on artificial airway humidification with two different kinds of ventilator heated humidifier

Abstract:Objective To compare the effect of two different ventilator heated humidifier on artificial airway humidification. Methods A total of 52 critically ill patients established artificial airway time ≥ 48 hours were enrolled,male 35,female 17,aged 15-82 years,mean age 56 years,and randomly divided into 2 groups:group A (n = 26 ,male 19,female 7; aged 25 -78 years,mean age 58 years) and group B (n = 26 ,male 16,female 10; aged 15-82 years,mean age 53 years). Patients in group A were performed airway humidification with mechanical ventilator(suction pipe without heating wire) with wet gas,patients in group B were performed with the mechanical ventilator (suction pipe with heating wire). The sputum viscosity,bacterial culture positive rate,suction cost,nursing workload,body signs and clinical assessment of performance in 2 group patients were studied. Results The sputum viscosity in group A was Ⅰ° -Ⅱ°,in group B was Ⅱ° -Ⅲ°. The 7 days sputum culture results showed in group A patient's respiratory tract infection rate was significantly lower than that in group B (P < 0.05); the differences of suction cost,bacterial culture positive rate and nursing workload were significant between 2 groups (P < 0.05). But there were no significant difference (P > 0.05) between 2 groups in clinical performance and vital signs. Conclusion The application of mechanical ventilator (suction pipe without heating wire) for airway humidification is superior to mechanical ventilator(suction pipe with heating wire) and the infection rate of lung and airway complications in patients can be reduced. Thus it would improve the efficiency and alleviate the nursing workload.

Abstract:Abstract Air humidity is one of the important factors that constitute the human body’s thermal comfort. Inappropriate humidity will affect people’s comfort and health. With the improvement of people’s living standard, people have higher and higher requirements for indoor air quality, and air humidity is important factors that affect air quality. Thus it is an important task to control appropriate air humidity in air-conditioning engineering. This paper will briefly discuss and analyze the existing dehumidification technologies of air conditioning, compare the advantages and disadvantages of various dehumidification technologies, and look into the future research direction.

Abstract:It is still difficult to resolve that condensation water drips from domestic air-conditioners and the air usually becomes dry and dirty after a long air conditioning period.This paper interprets a kind of humidity instrument applied to the air-conditioner and discussed its components of hardware and key models of the software.The results show that condensation water can be got together to humidify room well and to be sent to cool condenser with the instrument,and condensation water can be kept from drilling randomly and the air quality in room can also be improved.

Abstract:Dehumidification is a very important issue in daily life and production. The traditional dehumidification technologies,such as refrigeration,liquid desiccant,are widely used,but have many shortcomings. This paper reviews the recent development of some novel dehumidification technologies,including membrane dehumidification,heat pump dehumidification,heating,ventilating,air conditioning (HVAC) dehumidification,thermoelectric cooling and electrochemical dehumidification. Their operational principles,advantages and disadvantages,and equipment are introduced. Besides,their future development directions are presented.

Network meta-analysis of airway humidification in patients with non-mechanical ventilation after domestic gastrectomy

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects of various airway humidification methods to prevent pulmonary infection in non-mechanical ventilation patients by network meta-analysis. Methods The Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science, Wanfang data, and CNKI databases were searched and a randomized controlled trial (RCT) was developed for the method of humidification in non-mechanical ventilation patients after domestic air-surgery. The staff independently screened the literature, extracted the data, and used the stata14.0 software for network meta-analysis. Results In the 3 342 articles, 25 of them were included in the Meta-analysis, involving 6 methods of airway humidification. The order of effectiveness: first place in artificial nose, second in venturi humidification device, third in continuous atomization, Intermittent atomization ranked fourth, continued to drop into the fifth place, intermittently dropped into the sixth position of humidification. Conclusion The effectiveness of artificial nose device and venturi humidification device has been gradually recognized by domestic counterparts. Meta analysis shows that it is effective in preventing lung infection and worth promoting.
Application and Nursing of Heal and Moisture Exchanger in Tracheotomy Patients

Abstract:Objective To study the airway heating,humidification and filtration of heal and moisture exchanger(HME)and the prevention effect of ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP).Methods Eight-six subjects were randomly divided into a control group(n=40)to apply the atomization temperature and humidity of airway humidification devices of the ventilator and instilling fluid in airway and an experimental group(n=46)to connect HME between the ventilator and the tracheostomy tube and to connect HME with tracheostomy tube after the withdrawal of ventilator based on the treatment of the control group.Comparisons were conducted in the frequencies of wet conditions and aspiration of sputum between the two groups.Results No significant difference was observed in the frequencies of wet conditions and aspiration of sputum between the two groups(P0.05).The incidences of airway obstruction and VAP in experimental group were less than those in the control group and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion The heating and humidification function of HME can compensate for the shortcomings of artificial airway,reduce the pollution of outer ring road and help reduce the incidence of VAP.Given the limitations of HME,the clinical application should adhere to the indications and treatment effects of the patients.

A clinical practice evaluating the more appropriate airway humidification methods applied on patients with severe traumatic brain injury

Abstract:Abstract Airway humidification is an essential treatment for severe traumatic brain injury (STBI) patients after tracheotomy. To date, there was no relevant quantitative study evaluating these humidification ways and providing the appropriate method for the long-term nursing of these patients. In this study, 150 patients whom received tracheotomy treatment in our hospital from January 2016 to November 2018 were recruited into this study. Subjects were divided into three groups according to the humidification way that they received. The groups were oxygen spraying group (group A), Heat and moisture exchanger (HME) group (group B) and the heating and humidification group (group C). Phlegm viscosity, humidification effect, phlegm formation rate, daily sputum inhalation times, airway spasm, secondary lung infection, daily nursing times, nurses' internal satisfaction were evaluated. The C method is superior to both A and B methods in most aspects. A method trends to happening with insufficient or excessive humidification. Phlegm scab formation is significantly less in group C. The B and C methods had equal humidification effects and need similar daily sputum inhalation nursing. Airway spasm was frequent happened in group A than that in groups B and C. Secondary infection happened in all groups, the number of infected patients showed a decreasing trend and the infection degree showed no difference in the first 7 days between group C and group A. And the severity but not the infection ratio significantly decreased in Group C on the 30 th day. Method A significantly reduced nursing workload, but gained the worst humidification effects. Collectively, C method is more suitable for the airway nursing of patients with severe traumatic brain injury.

Abstract:Hygroscopic properties of atmospheric aerosols are not only the bridge of micro-aerosol physics and their chemical parameters,but also the fundamental optical properties.So,the study of the hygroscopic properties of aerosol is in the basic position of the atmospheric sciences.A comprehensive review about the significance of the research,research methods and technology,and the main conclusion in this field is discussed.Many researchers study the hygroscopic nature of particulate matter from the laboratory,field experiments,numerical simulation,and prove that the hygroscopic properties of atmospheric aerosols have an important influence on atmospheric visibility and atmospheric radiative forcing.There is few study with limited methodology on aerosol hygroscopic properties in China.So,it is essential to widely carry out research on aerosol hygroscopic properties in China.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of continues heated humidification oxygen therapy during weaning from ventilation in tracheotomy patients.Methods The continuous heated humidification oxygen therapy and artificial nose were applied in airway humidification in 30 patients in experimental group and 30 patients in control group.Results There were significant differences on the viscosity of the sputum,CO2 partial pressure,breathing rate and incidence of pulmonary infection between the two groups,experiment group was better.The effectiveness of airway humidification was better in the experimental group than the control group.Conclusion Continues heated humidification oxygen therapy can achieve satisfied airway humidification effect during weaning from ventilation in tracheotomy patients with less possibility of sputum emboli formation and low risk of pulmonary inflection.

Abstract:Abstract: In recent years, the fixed bed dehumidification system has received extensive attention. Research shows that the fixed bed can be combined with the vapor compression refrigeration system to replace the traditional air conditioning (A/C) system, improve the dehumidification efficiency of the system and reduce energy consumption of A/C. In this study, the optimization and improvement methods of the fixed bed dehumidifier in recent years are introduced in detail firstly. It points out that adding heating/cooling devices to the fixed bed can greatly improve the dehumidification capacity and efficiency of the system, which is the main method to improve the fixed bed currently; Optimizing the structure of fixed bed is also an effective method, but the current research results have limited improvement on dehumidification performance; Optimizing the regeneration mode of fixed bed can improve the utilization rate of renewable energy and improving the overall dehumidification efficiency of the system, but the research in the direction is still insufficient; The parallel double packed bed structure can ensure the continuous operation of the fixed bed to improve the dehumidification efficiency of the system, but such systems are large in scale and high in cost. Then the dehumidification performances of various systems are summarized and comprehensively compared. Finally, the future optimization and improvement direction of the fixed bed is pointed out.

Frontiers of Energy and Power Engineering in China

Abstract:The developments on liquid desiccant air-conditioning systems were illustrated and summarized in this paper. In order to obtain a better dehumidification (or humidification) performance, liquid desiccant should be cooled (or heated) rather than air. Two fundamental modules were proposed, including basic spray module with extra heat exchanger and total heat recovery device, which could be combined to set up various kinds of liquid desiccant air processors. The operating principle of heat pump-driven outdoor air processor as well as heat-driven outdoor air processor was analyzed. The COP air of the heat pump (or power)-driven outdoor air processor could be as high as 5.0 both in summer and in winter operating conditions. The COP air of the hot water-driven processor (65°C–80°C) was 1.19 and 0.93, respectively, using evaporative indoor exhaust air or cooling water to cool the dehumidification process. The liquid desiccant air processor-based temperature and humidity-independent control air-conditioning system could save 20%–30% operating energy compared with the conventional air-conditioning system.

Abstract:This review compares the different types of membrane processes for air dehumidification. Three main categories of membrane-based dehumidification are identified - membrane contactors using porous membranes with concentrated liquid desiccants, separative membranes using dense membrane morphology with a pressure gradient to drive the separation of moisture from air, and adsorptive membranes using nanofibrous membranes which adsorb and capture moisture to realise dehumidification. Drawing upon the importance of dehumidification and humidity control for urban sustainability and energy efficacy, this review critically analyses and recognizes the three unique categories of membrane-based air dehumidification technologies. Essentially, the discussion is broken into three sections-one for each category-discriminating in terms of the driving force, membrane structure and properties, and its performance indicators. Readers will notice that despite having the same objective to dehumidify air, the polymers used amongst each category differs to suit the operating requirements and optimize dehumidification performance. At the end of each section, a performance table or summary of dehumidifying membranes in its class is provided. The final section concludes with a comparative review of the three categories on membrane-based air dehumidification technologies and draw inspiration from parallel research to rationalise the potential and innovative use of promising materials in membrane fabrication for air dehumidification.
