Abstract:SaaS(Software as a service) assembles hardware,software and services together,reduces the cost of libraries through large-scale construction.It is regarded as one of the most important ways for libraries to implement the modern management,speed up information resources sharing and improve the ability of literature supplying.In 2009,Chinese library community started to pay strong attention on SaaS model.In 2011,CALIS developed a standardized,low-cost,adaptive,extensible SaaS-based service sharing platform.This platform can support service operations of hundreds or even thousands of CALIS member libraries within the same application system.As a practical application example of SaaS-based service sharing platform,CALIS interlibrary loan and document delivery system has been widely used in more than 400 member libraries after half year of its launch because of its low-investment and maintenance cost,low-demand on application and other advantages.

Abstract:This paper presents a language-based approach to service deployment. The language is called Abacus, which is a service-oriented programming language for grid applications. In Abacus, a service is abstracted as a basic language construct, and service deployment is expressed by a deployment statement. This approach allows an Abacus application to automatically deploy a service at runtime without any configuration information. This paper compares the development detail in the Abacus environment with that in the manual deployment environment, and evaluates our deployment approach accordingly. On the one hand, this approach frees maintainers from annoying deployment work at low-level, which helps to enhance the productivity in building grid applications. On the other hand, this approach allows services to be deployed according to the application logic, helping to improve the utilization and the management of various grid resources

Abstract:Cloud computing has been applied in many fields at home and abroad as a rapidly developing new information technology. This paper introduces cloud computing which is applied in digital libraries, analyzes current situation and existing problems of the cloud computing in digital library .On this basis, on the combination of cloud computing, SaaS, web2.0, SOA and other technologies, this paper proposes a CALIS-based cloud service strategy and the corresponding cloud library services platform (i.e. Nebula platform) model. The model is suitable for constructing large-scale distributed network of public digital library services. All library resources and service distributed on the Internet can be integrated as a whole, which forms a new type of adaptive control service system supporting interlibrary collaboration and service access, as well sharing resources from different libraries.

Abstract:Due to more nad more expanding data in information progress,CALS is introduced.This paper describes the theoretical studies and practical applications of CALS in terms of CALS background,development,characteristics,economic benefits,research status,standards implementation technology and so on.The results show that CALS lacks in domestic manufacturing applications.Finally,the feasibility of CALS in domestic implement aspects is analyzed and some ways for its further development are proposed.

Abstract:CALIS succeeds in carrying out the co-constructing and sharing of literature resources in domestic universities. The main reason for its success is that it has effective project management, and pays more at ention to the co-constructing and integration of resources during resources sharing. This paper inspects and evaluates the state of CALIS development, sums up the successful experience on this basis, and makes recommendations for its future development.

Abstract:As one of the national projects of China's 11th Five-year Program, CALIS faced great chal enges:building standardized, low-cost, adaptive, scalable digital library platform enabled with interoperability for nearly 2000 member libraries in China. With the development of cloud computing technology, CALIS proposed total solutions which is based on cloud computing technologies, and built multi-cloud service platforms including CALIS National Central Platform, Regional Platform and Local Platform. This paper gives a technical overview of China Academic Digital Library Information System including the CALIS cloud service platform, unified authentication system, resource exchange and processing system, resources and services integration system, resource discovery and access system, as wel as consulting and training system.

Abstract:Service Level Agreements (SLAs) play an important role in service-based systems. However, traditional approaches to establish SLAs are mostly manual and predefined which is not suitable for the highly dynamic and unpredictable service-oriented environment. In this paper, we propose a policy-based framework for supporting dynamic and automated SLA negotiations for Web services. In our framework, we extend the WS-Policy framework to provide a domain-independent policy language for specifying QoS constraints over the QoS attributes that are to be negotiated. Negotiation agents are dynamically created to perform SLA negotiations on behalf of each negotiating party in a P2P way using standard web services invocations. Decision making models of negotiation agents are also defined in a declarative way and can be reconfigured easily. We have implemented a prototype of our framework and demonstrated our approach through a case study.

Abstract:Information systems researchers continue to develop Web services hoping that, in a near future, these services will be used in every application system expediently. Although many implementations of Web services are currently available, no project can solve the problem of autonomous controlling the whole execution process of Web services. In this paper, we present a policy-driven IMCSBA (Infrastructure for Managing and Controlling the Social Behavior of Agents) project, which provides a platform to autonomous control the whole execution process of Web services. In addition, an agent infrastructure to realize this system was developed and a simulated test was conducted successfully.

Abstract:Service Level Agreements (SLAs) play an important role in guaranteeing successful collaborations among autonomous entities in Internet-based Virtual Computing Environment (iVCE). However, traditional static and predefined SLAs are not suitable for the open and dynamic iVCE. This paper proposes a policy-based framework for supporting dynamic and automated SLA negotiations between autonomous entities in iVCE. Requirements or constraints on SLA attributes as well as negotiation strategies of negotiating parties are both specified in policy specifications using a simple but expressive policy language that extends the WS-Policy framework. According to these policies, a negotiation agent will be dynamically created for each negotiation party, which is responsible for SLA negotiations on behalf of its owner party. We have implemented a prototype of our framework and demonstrated our approach through a case study.

Abstract:With the wide application of Web services, its performance has caused the extensive concern and becomes one of the key factors of determining whether it is widely applied further. Based on the idea of differentiating Web services, the paper presents a SLA-based Web services performance guarantee model to improve Web services runtime environment, and expatiates on the key techniques of realizing the model: the request class utility function, the predicting model of response time, the genetic algorithm-based resource allocation and the dynamic weight-based weighted round-robin scheduling algorithm. Experiments prove the model can guarantee the response performance of Web services requests and improve the stability of the system.

Abstract:During the recent years,Service-Oriented Computing(SOC),as a new computing paradigm,has been widely accepted in academies and industry.More and more service-oriented computer system analysis and design, methodologies have been proposed.It is believed that if a service-oriented methodology is based on compatible concepts and description methods between the application domain and the system responsibility,it would take more advantages.So,in this paper,a Unified Service Description Language(USDL)is suggested based on our understanding of service and its attributes to unify description of web service and general service in application domain.With a demo in DELCCA project,USDL is asserted to efficiently support service oriented analysis and design.

Abstract:Since the 21st century, modern service industry has mushroomed around the world, and the application systems in modern service industry are usually built based on the reuse of other third party services in a distributed and loose-coupled way. Consequently, there will be a greater need for the provisioning and lifecycle management of services. In this paper, we analyze the drawbacks of current service repository, propose a framework for services lifecycle management with many capabilities covered, including services registration and annotation with semantic information, flexible categorization and clustering of services, accurate and efficient services query and matchmaking based on interface and behavioral semantics, service orchestration and verification, and service execution and monitoring. The proposed framework SP4SLM provides a comprehensive management for the whole lifecycle of services in accordance with the demands in modern services industry.
