Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to discuss a nonlinear rational difference equation system with three variables. Firstly, by utilizing Jacobian theory, the stability of the system is obtained. Then, we explore the saddle point, nonhyperbolic point, and prime period‐two solution and its boundedness. Finally, we verify the results obtained in the paper via computer numerical calculations.

Abstract:By establishing a new proper variational framework and using the critical point theory, we establish some new existence criteria to guarantee that the 2nth-order nonlinear difference equation containing both advance and retardation with p-Laplacian Delta(n)(r(t - n) Phi p(Delta(n)u(t - 1))) + q(t)Phi p (u(t)) = f (t,u(t + n),.,u(t),.,u(t - n)), n is an element of Z, has infinitely many homoclinic orbits, where Phi p(s) is p-Laplacian operator; Phi p(s) = |s|(p-2)s(1 < p < infinity) r, q, f are nonperiodic in t. Our conditions on the potential are rather relaxed, and some existing results in the literature are improved.

We propose a new formulation of the periodic problem into an equivalent fixed point problem in a suitable Banach space. Abstract:A numerical method is described for digital simulation of rate-zonal centrifugation of particles with known sedimentation and diffusion coefficients in sucrose gradients at given temperatures. A model rotor based on the geometry of a B-XIV titanium zonal rotor is used. The rotor chamber is divided into 207 annular segments by 206 equidistant cylindrical planes. Initially 207 paired values describing the concentration radius profiles of sample and gradient material together with some physical constants are provided as input data. The net fluxes of material across each plane during a short period of time are calculated. The concentrations in each segment are adjusted accordingly, yielding new concentration radius profiles. New values of density and viscosity in each segment are calculated before the next transfer of materials is allowed to take place. The iterations are continued until a predetermined cumulative run time is reached. The advantages and the drawbacks of this approach are discussed. Comparison with an actual experiment revealed that the simulation method can be used to predict final particle distribution with rather good accuracy. Moreover, the hydrodynamic stability of sample particles can be evaluated at each time point and at each distance during a centrifugation. Hence, this numerical approach can be used to optimize experimental conditions in all types of zonal centrifugation.

Abstract:In this paper we study the dynamical behavior of the differential equationx″+ax+−bx−=f(t), where x+=max⁡{x,0}, x−=max⁡{−x,0}, a and b are two different positive constants, f(t) is a real analytic almost periodic function. For this purpose, firstly, we have to establish some variants of the invariant curve theorem of planar almost periodic mappings, which was proved recently by the authors (see [11]). Then we will discuss the existence of almost periodic solutions and the boundedness of all solutions for the above asymmetric oscillation.

Abstract:We study the following semilinear impulsive differential equation with delay: u′(t)+Au(t)=f(t,u(t),ut),t>0,t≠ti,u(s)=ϕ(s),s∈[−r,0],Δu(ti)=Ii(u(ti)),i=1,2,…,00 is a constant and ut(s)=u(t+s), s∈[−r,0]. Here, Δu(ti)=u(ti+)−u(ti−) constitutes an impulsive condition, which can be used to model more physical phenomena than the traditional initial value problems. We assume that f(t,u,w) is T-periodic in t and then prove with some compactness conditions that if solutions of the equation are ultimately bounded, then the differential equation has a T-periodic solution. The new results obtained here extend some results in this area for differential equations without impulsive conditions or without delays.

Abstract:In this paper we consider a class of nonlinear wave equation with $x$-dependent coefficients and prove existence of families of time-periodic solutions under the general boundary conditions. Such a model arises from the forced vibrations of a nonhomogeneous string and the propagation of seismic waves in nonisotropic media. The proofs are based on a Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction together with a differentiable Nash-Moser iteration scheme.

Abstract:The issue of inheriting periodicity of an exact solution of a dynamic system by a difference scheme is considered. It is shown that some difference schemes (midpoint scheme, Kahan scheme) in some special cases provide approximate solutions of differential equations, which are periodic sequences. Such solutions are called periodic. A purely algebraic method for finding such solutions is developed. It is shown that midpoint scheme inherits periodicity not only in case of linear oscillator, but also in case of nonlinear oscillator, integrable into elliptic functions.

Abstract:For p>1 and φp(s):=|s|p-2s, we are concerned with the boundedness of solutions for the equation(φp(x′))′+αφp(x+)-βφp(x-)=f(t,x),where x+=max(x,0),x-=max(-x,0) and f(t,x) is 2π-periodic in t. When πpα1/p+πpβ1/p=2πn(the “resonant” situation) and f has limits f±(t) as x→±∞, there is a function Z(θ) plays a central role for the boundedness of solutions. More precisely, if Z(θ) is of constant sign, then all solutions are bounded. Moreover, such condition also guarantees the boundedness when (α,β) near a Fučik curve.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study the asymptotic behavior of the time-dependent solutions to a coupled system of reaction-diffusion equations with periodic coefficients in unbounded domains, including the whole space R-n, the exterior Omega(e) of a bounded domain and the half-space R-+(n) = {x = (x(1), . . . , x(n)) is an element of R-n; x(n) > 0}, under Dirichlet boundary conditions. It is shown that if the reaction function in the system possesses a mixed quasi monotone property and the corresponding periodic system has a pair of coupled upper and lower solutions then the periodic system has a pair of quasi-solutions and the sector between the quasi-solutions is an attractor of the system of periodic reaction-diffusion equations. Under some additional conditions this attractor leads to the asymptotic stability of a periodic solution for the periodic system. The approach to the problem is based on the method of upper and lower solutions, a ladder argument and a bootstrap technique. Finally, a competitor-competitor-mutualist model is given to illustrate the obtained results.
