Relationship Between Expression of NDRG1 and Clinicopathological Features and Prognosis of Esophagea Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Abstract:Objective:To study the expression and significance of NDRG1(N-myc downstream regulated gene-1)in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).Methods:NDRG1 protein were detected by immunohistochemistry(IHC,SP method)in 20 cases of normal esophageal squamous epithelium and 78 cases of ESCC.Results:It showed that in normal esophageal squamous epithelium and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma,the positive ratio of NDRG1 was 100%(20/20)and 55.1%(43/78)separately,there were all statistical significance.There was inverse correlation of NDRG1 expression and lymphatic invasion.However expression of NDRG1 was no statistical significance with patient's age,gender,grade,TNM stage and patient's five year survival.Conclusion:NDRG1 may be a new tumor suppress gene and plays an important role in the development and metastasis of ESCC.
