Abstract:Objective To investigate the cognitive status of fall-prevention knowledge and behaviors among hepatic cirrhosis inpatients and their caregivers.Method A total of 90 hospitalized patients and 54 caregivers were recruited and investigated with the Fall Prevention Knowledge and Behavior Questionnaire.Results The mean scores of the knowledge and behavior about fall-prevention of patients and their caregivers were at moderate or even lower levels.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that fall experiences and fall prevention knowledge were the influencing factors of the patients' fall prevention behaviors.The fall prevention knowledge and the length of caring time were the influencing factors of caregivers' fall prevention behaviors.Conclusion Medical staffs should pay close attention to patients and their caregivers' needs of fall prevention knowledge and provide targeted education,so as to correct their risk behaviors and promote healthy behaviors of fall prevention.
