Digest,Semi-Digest and Misunderstanding of Chinese and Western Poetics——Closereading on the Methodology of Zhu Guangqian's Poetics

Abstract:In Zhu Guangqian's Poetics,he compared the Western aesthetics such as the theories of Groos' "innere nachahmung" ,Lessing's "heterogeneity of poet and drawing" and Croce's "intuition" with the viewpoints of the Chinese classical poetry such as harmonious swing,poetic and pictorial splendor and feeling and setting happily blended,and he concluded some common laws of Chinese and Western poetics. In terms of methodology,Zhu Guangqian was a Chinese scholar who opened up the academic way of the digest of the Chinese and the Western poetics. But due to the limitations of the time and the personal academic capability,Zhu Guangqian's theory of digest was not perfect. In the aspect of technique,he compared the West with Chinese precisely; he digested the Western theories and Chinese theories. But in the aspect of academic,sometimes he couldn't digest thoroughly the west and the Chinese theories for his dipping into the theory. In the aspect of value,he misunderstood the Chinese and the Western poetics for the barrier of Chinese and the Western academic.
