Abstract:Abstract Background This study was aimed to evaluate the application of WeChat-based flipped classroom in root canal filling teaching in a preclinical endodontic course. Methods A two‐group comparative study was designed. The pre-class test, on-site quiz, and root canal filling on extracted premolars were performed by students from a lecture-based classroom group (LG, n = 30) and a WeChat-based flipped classroom group (WFG, n = 30). Results of the Pre-class test and on-site quiz were analyzed by independent samples t-test. Post-filling radiographs were taken and evaluated by a specialist in oral radiology who was blinded to grouping. Results of root canal fillings were analyzed by the Pearson chi-square test. Student responses in questionnaires were analyzed by Fisher’s exact test. Results The students in WFG could get significantly higher scores in the on-site test and make better performances in root canal filling than those in LG. In terms of questionnaires, students from WFG were perceived to be more motivated to learn, better to understand the knowledge, better to improve communication and clinical skills, easier to perform root canal filling but spending more time. Conclusion The WeChat-based flipped classroom teaching can have a better effect than lecture-based teaching on root canal filling learning for students with limited endodontic experiences.

Abstract:Objective To design and program the multimedia didactic courseware of imaging anatomy for network environment. Methods By collecting the teaching material and images of“imaging anatomy”,the images were obtained with digital cameras and scanners,and processed with graphic software,and then the multimedia didactic courseware was archived with Dreamweaver MX. Results Multimedia didactic courseware of imaging anatomy with friendly interface for network environment had been completed. Reliable,stable,and flexible operation in campus network and Internet environment was achieved. Conclusion Being not conditioned by time and space factor,multimedia didactic courseware for network environment with an abundance of information and more freedom in teaching and studying,which saves manpower and material resources and makes an effective disposal of educational resources,will have broad prospects to develop.

Abstract:To improve the education management and teaching process as well as follow the trend of education reform,it was put forward by the Ministry of Education in 1999 that the key step to promote informatization was applying and popularizing teaching mode which focused on multi-media technology.In this way,we tried to introduce multi-media technology into education of Dental Materials and reformed the teaching mode.After a deep analysis of the teaching content,the emphasis of the content was showed by animation and video while its concepts were explained with pictures.The courseware was used in undergraduates of eight-year program.A questionnaire was designed according to the content of the courseware and the result indicated a good effect.
