Approaches to and Factors in Urban Youths' Seeking Employment

Abstract:Based on a survey conducted among 2,537 young men who have already found employment in 12 cities across the country,the paper first describes the major approaches to employment of the young people living and working in cities and the distribution of their employment patterns and then analyzes the major factors influencing their gaining employment.The result shows that about 50 percent of them seek employment through job market independently,20 percent are offered the job through the institutes where they have received education,and about 25 percent get help from other social channels.Such factors as their birth origin(i.e.they are from urban or rural origins),work experience and education background play a significant role in their obtaining employment.
