Abstract:Several aromatic aldehydes and sodium bisulfite were mixed to prepare hydroxyl sulfonates,which were added to o-phenylenediamine or substituted o-phenylenediamine in refluxing ethanol to afford 2-substi-tuted benzimidazoles through oxidation by air directly.One of the fifteen synthesized compounds,2-(4-chlorophyenyl)-6-methoxyl-1H-benzimidazole has not been reported.All the compounds were identified by IR,1H NMR spectra and elemental analysis.The method is simple,mild,eco-friendly and requires no catalyst.

Abstract:The chloromethylation reaction of 2-chloro-thiophene via phase transfer catalysis was carried out to synthesize 2-chloro-3-chloromethyl-thiophene, where the catalyst was tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB). The chloromethylation reagents used were paraformaldehyde and 37% concentrated hydrochloric acid. The structure of 2-chloro-3-chloromethyl-thiophene was confirmed by means of GC-MAS, IR and ^1H NMR spectrometries. The yield was 77.6%. The O-alkylation reactions between 1-(2,4-dichloro-phenyl)-2-(1-imidazol)-ethanol and 2-chloro-3-chloromethyl-thiophene were performed in a two -phase system of organic solvent/solid NaOH under phase transfer catalytic condition. At the end, the tioconazole nitrate was formed by the addition of nitric acid. The structure of tioconazole was confirmed with IR and ^1H NMR spectra. The yield of tioconazole was 53.0%.

Abstract:A general synthesis of 4-hydroxylcarbazoles by domino vinylogous conjugate addition/cyclization/elimination/aromatization of easily prepared 3-nitroindoles with alkylidene azlactones under mild and transition-metal-free conditions has been developed. This method was also applicable to other nitrosubstituted benzofused heterocycles such as 3-nitrobenzothiophene, 2-nitrobenzothiophene, and 2-nitrobenzofuran. The valuable tetracyclic carbazole derivatives, such as 6H-oxazolo[4,5-c]carbazole and 3,6-dihydro-2H-oxazolo[4,5-c]carbazol-2-one, were readily prepared from the product, demonstrating synthetic utility of this method.

Abstract:This paper discusses the synthesis of privileged structures 4H-benzo[1,4]thiazin-3-one and 1,1-dioxo-1,4-dihydro-2H-1 lambda(6)-benzo[1,4]thiazin-3-one derivatives in a parallel solution-phase manner using 1,5-difluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene. Each scaffold possesses four diversity points. A cheap and efficient oxidant, urea-hydrogen peroxide (UHP), was applied for the introduction of the sulfone group. The intramolecular cyclization to 1,1-dioxo-1,4-dihydro-2H-1 lambda(6)-benzo[1,4]thiazin-3-one was achieved by microwave assistance or the use of an inorganic base.

Abstract:The La(OTf)(3)-catalyzed [3+2] cycloaddition reactions for the synthesis of benzo[d]oxazoles/benzofurans via quinones and 1,2-di-tert-butyl-3-(cyanimino)diaziridine (1,3-di-tert-butyl-2-cyanoguanidine)/vinyl azides have been explored. A series of 5-hydroxybenzofuran-4-carboxylic acid derivatives and 5-hydroxybenzo[d]oxazole-4-carboxylic acid derivatives were conveniently obtained with high yields and good stereoselectivities, which could be used for further transformations to valuable compounds.

Abstract:The [4+3] annulation of aza‐o‐quinone methides and pyridinium 1,4‐zwitterionic thiolates has been developed for the one‐step synthesis of functionalized 2,3‐unsaturated 4,1‐benzothiazepines under mild and metal‐free conditions. The produced 4,1‐benzothiazepines can easily be converted into biologically interesting sulfoxides and sulfones via selective oxidization with m‐CPBA.

Abstract:Many [1, 2, 4] triazolobenzoheteroazepine derivatives show interesting biological activities. In this paper, the geminal arylazo isocyanato compounds 3 were prepared from chroman-4-ones in three steps, i.e. condensation with arylhydrazine, cycloaddition of the resulting hydrazone with HNCO, and oxidative ring cleavage by KMnO4. Compounds 3 were allowed to react with HBF4, producing the respective 3-spiro substituted 1-aryl-4, 5-dihydro-5-oxo-3H-1, 2, 4-triazolium salts 4. The concurrent rearrangement of compound 4 with insertion of the nitrogen atom into the carbon skeleton provided, after the basic work-up, 2-oxo-[1, 2, 4] triazolo [3, 2-d] [1, 5] benzoxazepines 5a-5h. An unambigous structutal proof was obtained from the X-ray diffraction analysis for compound 5h.

Abstract:Many nitrogen- and sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds exhibit biological activity. Among these heterocycles are benzo[4,5]thiazolo[2,3-c][1,2,4]triazoles for which two main synthetic approaches exist. Here we report a new synthetic protocol that allows the preparation of these tricyclic compounds via the oxidation of a mercaptophenyl moiety to its corresponding disulfide. Subsequent C-H bond functionalization is thought to enable an intramolecular ring closure, thus forming the desired benzo[4,5]thiazolo[2,3-c][1,2,4]triazole. This method combines a high functional group tolerance with short reaction times and good to excellent yields.

Abstract:A photocatalytic reaction of N-(2-vinylphenyl)amides, DABCO(SO2)(2) and arenediazonium tetrafluoroborates for the synthesis of 4-((arylsulfonyl)methyl)-4H-benzo[d][1,3]oxazines under mild conditions is reported. This synthetic approach is enabled by merging photoredox catalysis and insertion of sulfur dioxide via a radical process. The specific role of photoredox catalysis in this transformation is supported by mechanistic investigations and theoretical calculations.

Abstract:This study reports on the thiourea dioxide catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of diverse C=N–containing heterocyclic compounds with Hantzsch ester as the hydrogen source. With this cost effective and readily available catalyst, a wide range of 2-substituted quinolines, 3-substituted-2H-1,4-benzoxazines and 3-substituted-2H-1,4-benzothiazines were efficiently reduced to the corresponding tetrahydroquinolines, dihydro-2H-benzoxazines and dihydro-2H-benzothiazines under mild conditions.

Abstract:The design, inspired by the core‐structure of oxicam has allowed the enantioselective synthesis of benzopyranothiazinone motifs employing N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalysis. The NHC‐mediated transformation involves the reaction of α,β‐unsaturated aldehydes with suitable substituted benzothiazinone derivatives. This process encompasses the initial formation of α,β‐unsaturated acylazoliums from ynals and concurrent generation of enolates from benzothiazinone. The culmination of these reactions results in an efficient annulation, yielding the desired products with reasonable yields and high stereoselectivities. This study underscores the potential of NHC catalysis in the streamlined synthesis of complex heterocyclic structures.

Abstract:3-Thiol-1,2,4-triazole, 2-thiol-1,3,4-oxadiazole and 2-thiol-1,3,4-thiadiazole compounds were synthesized from hydrazides through different ways. By the nucleophilic substitution of S for Br on 3-bromo-1,3,4,5-tetrahydro-2-oxo-1H-benazepine, 32 derivatives of tetrahydro-2-oxo-H-1-benazepine were synthesized. In order to improve dissolving ability in organic solvents, other 36 derivatives, which have a substituent of acetate on the 1-N position of benazepine, were also prepared. The structures of these compounds were confirmed by MS, H-1 and C-13 NMR spectra and elemental analysis. The primary antibacterial activity test indicated that some of the compounds were effective against Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus and Candida albicans.
