Abstract:With the global industrial expansion and the increase in urban population, the discharge of industrial effluent and domestic sewage is ever on the increase, resulting in the rapid increase in the quantity of sludge. With a view to preventing secondary pollution by the sludge and utilizing the active ingredients in the sludge, the disposal of the sludge has become a problem of interest in the whole world. After an analysis of the various malpractices in the disposal of the common sludge, the writers put forward the direction for the development of utilization of sludge as manure, point out that the use of sludge after stabilized and non-polluting treatment as an organic manure will become a sludge disposal method with prospects for use in China.
