Abstract:In the title compound, [Cu(C8H4O4)(C5H8N2)2]n, each CuII atom is four-coordinated by two carboxyl­ate O atoms from two different benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl­ate (1,4-BDC) ligands and two N atoms from two 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole (EI) ligands in a slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment. There are two Cu atoms, both with site symmetry \overline{1}. Each 1,4-BDC acts as a bis-monodentate ligand that binds two CuII atoms, thus forming two unique chains. The EI ligands are attached on both sides of the chains.
