A Survey of Web Service Composition Methods

Abstract:With the emergence of technologies and standards supporting the development of Web services, more and more services are becoming available on the Internet. Composing existing services to obtain new functionality becomes essential for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer applications. Research on service composition has attracted many researchers’ attention. A lot of service composition methods were proposed. This paper gives an overview of the research on service composition methods. It divides those methods into two categories: business-process-driven methods and task-solve-oriented methods; and then introduces the current methods in details. Finally, it points out the future direction of service composition technology.
