Abstract:Suppose that $K$ and $ K'$ are two affine Cantor sets. It is shown that the sum set $K+K'$ has equal box and Hausdorff dimensions and in this number named $s$, $H^s(K+K')<\infty$. Moreover, for almost every pair $(K,K')$ satisfying $HD(K)+HD(K')\leq 1$, there is a dense subset $D\subset \mathbb R$ such that $H^s(K+\lambda K')=0$, for all $\lambda\in D$. It also is shown that in the context of affine Cantor sets with two increasing maps, there are generically (topological and almost everywhere) five possible structures for their sum: a Cantor set, an L, R, M-Cantorval or a finite union of closed intervals.

Abstract:The authors show that the self-similar set for a finite family of contractive similitudes (similaxities, i.e., \f(i)(x) - f(i)(y)\ = a(i)\x - y\, x,y is an element of R-N, where 0 < ai < 1) is uniformly perfect except the case that it is a singleton. As a corollary, it is proved that this self-similar set has positive Hausdorff dimension provided that it is not a singleton. And a lower bound of the upper box dimension of the uniformly perfect sets is given: Meanwhile the uniformly perfect set with Hausdorff measure zero in its Hausdorff dimension is given.

Abstract:We are looking for integer sets that resemble classical Cantor set and investigate the structure of their sum sets. Especially we investigate $FS(B)$ the subset sum of sequence type $B=\{\lfloor p^n\alpha\rfloor\}^\infty_{n=0}$. When $p=2$, then we prove $FS(B)+FS(B)=\N$ by analogy with the Cantor set, and some structure theorem for $p>2$

Algebraic sums of achievable sets involving Cantorvals

Abstract:In this paper we look at the topological type of algebraic sum of achievement sets. We show that there is a Cantorval such that the algebraic sum of its $k$ copies is still a Cantorval for any $k \in \mathbb{N}$. We also prove that for any $m,p \in (\mathbb{N}\setminus \{1\}) \cup \{\infty\}$, $p \geq m$, the algebraic sum of $k$ copies of a Cantor set can transit from a Cantor set to a Cantorval for $k=m$ and then to an interval for $k=p$. These two main results are based on a new characterization of sequences whose achievement sets are Cantorvals. We also define a new family of achievable Cantorvals which are not generated by multigeometric series. In the final section we discuss various decompositions of sequences related to the topological typology of achievement sets.

Through the dynamics of "zooming in" on any typical point, we derive an explicit and uniform formula for the tangent measures associated with this category of non-homogeneous Cantor sets on [math].

Abstract:In the present paper, we study a set that can be treated as a generalised set of subsums for a geometric series. This object was discovered independently in various mathematical aspects. For instance, it is closely related to various systems of representation of real numbers. The main object of this paper was particularly studied by R. Kenyon, who brought up a question about the Lebesgue measure of the set and conjectured that it is positive. Further, Z. Nitecki confirmed the hypothesis by using nontrivial topological techniques. However, the aforementioned result is quite limited, as this particular case should satisfy a rigid condition of homogeneity. Despite the limited progress, the problem remained understudied in a general framework.

Abstract:In the paper, we provide an effective criterion for the Lipschitz equivalence of two-branch Cantor sets and three-branch Cantor sets by studying the irreducibility of polynomials. We also find that any two Cantor sets are Lipschitz equivalent if and only if their contraction vectors are equivalent provided one of the contraction vectors is homogeneous.

Abstract:Let $C$ be the middle-third Cantor set. Define $C*C=\{x*y:x,y\in C\}$, where $*=+,-,\cdot,÷$ (when $*=÷$, we assume $y\neq0$). Steinhaus \cite{HS} proved in 1917 that \[ C-C=[-1,1], C+C=[0,2]. \] In 2019, Athreya, Reznick and Tyson \cite{Tyson} proved that \[ C÷C=\bigcup_{n=-\infty}^{\infty}\left[ 3^{-n}\dfrac{2}{3},3^{-n}\dfrac {3}{2}\right] . \] In this paper, we give a description of the topological structure and Lebesgue measure of $C\cdot C$. We indeed obtain corresponding results on the uniform $\lambda$-Cantor sets.

Homogeneous structures in subset sums and non-averaging sets

Abstract:We show that for every positive integer $k$ there are positive constants $C$ and $c$ such that if $A$ is a subset of $\{1, 2, \dots, n\}$ of size at least $C n^{1/k}$, then, for some $d \leq k-1$, the set of subset sums of $A$ contains a homogeneous $d$-dimensional generalized arithmetic progression of size at least $c|A|^{d+1}$. This strengthens a result of Szemerédi and Vu, who proved a similar statement without the homogeneity condition. As an application, we make progress on the Erdős--Straus non-averaging sets problem, showing that every subset $A$ of $\{1, 2, \dots, n\}$ of size at least $n^{\sqrt{2} - 1 + o(1)}$ contains an element which is the average of two or more other elements of $A$. This gives the first polynomial improvement on a result of Erdős and Sárközy from 1990.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate the Lipschitz equivalence of dust-like self-similar sets in R-d. One of the fundamental results by Falconer and Marsh [On the Lipschitz equivalence of Cantor sets, Mathematika, 39 (1992), 223-233] establishes conditions for Lipschitz equivalence based on the algebraic properties of the contraction ratios of the self-similar sets. In this paper we extend the study by examining deeper such connections.A key ingredient of our study is the introduction of a new equivalent relation between two dust-like self-similar sets called a matchable condition. Thanks to a certain measure-preserving property of bi-Lipschitz maps between dust-like self-similar sets, we show that the matchable condition is a necessary condition for Lipschitz equivalence.Using the matchable condition we prove several conditions on the Lipschitz equivalence of dust-like self-similar sets based on the algebraic properties of the contraction ratios, which include a complete characterization of Lipschitz equivalence when the multiplication groups generated by the contraction ratios have full rank. We also completely characterize the Lipschitz equivalence of dust-like self-similar sets with two branches (i.e., they are generated by IFS with two contractive similarities). Some other results are also presented, including a complete characterization of Lipschitz equivalence when one of the self-similar sets has uniform contraction ratio.

Abstract:The aim of this note is to exploit a new relationship between additive combinatorics and the geometry of monomial projective curves. We associate to a finite set of non-negative integers a monomial projective curve such that the Hilbert function of and the cardinalities of agree. The singularities of determines the asymptotic behaviour of | sA |, equivalently the Hilbert polynomial of , and the asymptotic structure of sA . We show that some additive inverse problems can be translate to the rigidity of Hilbert polynomials and we improve an upper bound of the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of monomial projective curves by using results of additive combinatorics.

Abstract:Zhao (2003a) first established a congruence for any odd prime p>3, S(1,1,1;p)≡−2Bp−3 (mod p), which holds when p=3 evidently. In this paper, we consider finite triple harmonic sum S(α,β,γ,p) (mod p) is considered for all positive integers α,β,γ. We refer to w=α+β+γ as the weight of the sum, and show that if w is even, S(α,β,γ,p)≡0 (mod p) for p≥w+3; if w is odd S(α,γ,γ,p)≡rBp−w (mod p) for p≥w, here r is an explicit rational number independent of p. A congruence of Catalan number is obtained as a special case.
