Abstract:During its evolution Chinese moral education has developed pronounced ideological aspects. This stems from traditions of first equating politics with morality, phrasing them both in the same language, and then of encouraging correct moral and political relations and behaviours through education. This trend dates back three thousand years to Zhou Gong and continued through Confucius and his followers. From 1949, through the Cultural Revolution and the present transition to a market economy, a similarly unified approach to political, ideological and moral education has been effected through the organizational medium of deyu. As well as providing a historical overview, this paper examines the ideological function and political structure of deyu and the changes that are occurring within it. In the light of current changes in China, deyu is now starting to shift its focus away from ideological education and towards citizenship education. This reflects important changes in core values, to include individualism, economic initiative and consumerism, all of which confront Chinese society and education with distinct challenges and opportunities, and suggest even further reform of deyu during the 21st century.

Abstract:Sex education has become an important issue in human development and attracts a lot of debates day in and day out. This article situated itself on the socio-cultural perspective of adolescent sex education espousing permissive and restrictive social-cultural dimensions. The article again confined itself to psycho-theoretical perspectives by dwelling on Freud’s psychosexual theory, Eriksson’s psychosocial theory, Skinner’s operant conditioning, as well as Bandura’s social learning theory. All theories are comprehensively reviewed based on their views on adolescence and sex education. Psychosexual theory views sex education as a construct that can be nurtured in the early years of life, psychosocial theory views sex education as a construct that can occur through societal interactions, operant conditioning considers sex education as capable based on behavioral consequences, and social learning views sex education as something that can be modeled.

Abstract:Introduction: Adolescence is very dynamic phase in life and if child is not able to cope up with the changes then the effects on health are lifelong. Evidence supporting role of holistic/ comprehensive sexuality education empowering children in this coping process is present. But still the controversies exists in all countries about either acceptance, content or delivery of the sexuality education. To make curriculum more acceptable, engaging and effective, it is very important to take into consideration adolescent’s perspective. In present study, we tried to understand felt need of adolescents about sexuality education. Objective: To understand need for sexuality education. Methods: The methods used were question box, self-administered questionnaire, and name the organs in blank human figure activity all in different set of students. Results: 48% questions were to seek scientific information but extent was up to enquiring about sex toys.12% about emotional changes, 11% about cultural norms,9% about romantic relationship and 6% to clear myths. The basic knowledge about human body, pubertal changes was poor, more so in girls. The attitude towards pubertal changes was mostly negative in girls, curious in boys. The inhibition in mentioning reproductive system organs was significant in both, indicating attitude. 98% were willing to have correct knowledge about the pubertal changes and effects on life. Conclusion: The comprehensive sexuality education is unmet need in India. Taking into consideration perspective of adolescents, it should contain scientific knowledge and other relevant topics.

Abstract:Teenagers are predominant in the adolescent period. It is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood. (Montessori, 2014). Adolescents feel curious and embarrassed about the changes that occur during this period and they find themselves drawn to the members of the opposite sex and may feel self-conscious, excited, and nervous, these teenagers try to experiment with their desires out of social and ethical norms to fulfill their sexual desires. In Indian society, sex is morally permitted only after marriage (sodhi,2004) and sex relation outside marriage is morally condemned by society(Jessica ,2015). Ethically it is clear that any kind of exploitation of sex is undesirable. But in pandemic situations like in Covid 19, teenagers spend most of their time with laptops, mobile phones, and tabs with an internet connection, the pictures lured by the youth are very much influenced by them. Due to the impact of media and peer group pressure, and they sometimes rebel against their parents and elders and seek the approval and companionship of their peers. In addition to that technological awareness and advancements in development have forced this youth to move one step toward the abolition of family customs and traditions. In this context, sexual health education is very important for teenagers to create awareness about the harmful effects of improper sexual relationships (Swayam , 2021).
Media Influence on Adolescents Sex Education: A Comparative Analysis of Sex Education in China and Western Countries

Abstract:The development of society leads to increased awareness of health issues, especially sex. Since sex-related issues are primarily emphasized during adolescence, adolescents become the major targeted audience of sex education, and sex education has obtained much attention in recent decades. There are several research discussing prominent discrepancies between sex education in different nations, however, few research steps into this domain from the perspective of media. This paper conducts a comparative analysis of media influence on adolescents sex education in China and western countries, which not only briefly introduces certain types of traditional media and new media but also discusses the status quo of media application respectively. The results of the comparison demonstrate that the media influence on adolescents sex education in China and the West mainly differs in the content and the approaches being used, while the perceptions of sex education and the negative impacts brought about by the application of media share some similarities. Furthermore, these results may attribute to two aspects, cultural background and the development of sex education.

Abstract:Background: Despite rapid modernization and improving gender equity in China in recent decades, traditional values prevail in many areas of life, including sexual behavior. This study aimed to explore gender differences in sexual knowledge, sexual attitudes and sexual behaviors, as well as preferences for sex education among undergraduates in China. Methods: A cross-sectional study surveyed 5965 undergraduates (62.8% females), aged 15 to 24 years from nine universities in Zhejiang, Henan and Yunnan provinces, from September to November 2019. Results: Of the total sample, 158 (2.6%) self-identified as homosexual, 287 (4.8%) as bisexual and 324 (5.4%) stated they were unclear about their sexual identity. The mean sexual knowledge score out of 12 was 6.16 +/- 2.54 points. Ever having sexual intercourse was reported by 18.7% (27.0% males, and 13.9% females). Students from urban backgrounds, and those with homosexual and bisexual orientation were more likely to have had sexual intercourse. Most students (72.5%) reported that they would prefer to receive sex education from on-line sources. Conclusions: Female students are significantly more conservative in sexual attitudes and sexual behaviors. Low levels of sexual knowledge contribute to risk behaviors among Chinese adolescents. China needs to develop and widely disseminate on-line sex education, with practical, age-appropriate content.

Abstract:Puberty often confuses teenagers who don't understand it. Therefore, it is essential to provide sex education to help children understand the phase they are experiencing. Not only children but parents also need to understand the developments that occur in their children so they can accompany their children in these turbulent times. This spiritual education aims to equip children and their parents with correct knowledge about human sexuality and its biblical responsibilities. The education was delivered in presentations, followed by an interactive discussion, and then closed with a conclusion. The result is that the counseling went well and was understood by the participants. The author suggests that this kind of activity be carried out regularly, considering the broad discussion of topics surrounding sex education. Keywords: education; sexuality; teens; parents

Analysis and evaluation of sex education in the compulsory education courses in China

Abstract:Objective To analyze the contents about the sex education in the textbooks and the curriculum standards of compulsory education,and to provide suggestions for the future development.Methods With "International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education" as a reference,the curriculum standards of compulsory education and the textbooks published by People's Education Press were studied,based on the method of Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) combined with textbook analysis and evaluation scheme of the University of Sussex.Results In general,seven courses including Chinese contained the contents of sex education,covering five concepts with 19 themes of sex education.Four important themes were not included,namely,sex,sexuality and the life cycle of sex,sex behavior and sex reaction,pregnancy prevention and long-term commitment,marriage and parenting.The discussions on each theme of the two core concepts concerning relationship and values,attitudes and skills were relatively insufficient in depth.The textbooks manifested unevenly to show different sex-related knowledge,focusing more on the relationship and body's growth,and more was shown in the political course and biology ones branched curriculum or arts courses,and a couple of super-standard situations could be found in five courses like biology.Conclusion "Primary and Secondary School Students Sexuality Education Guidelines" should be amended to strengthen the sex education by multi-disciplinary correlation under a clear unified education guideline.
The Dilemma and the Way Out of Girls' Sexual Education in the Yi region of Liangshan

Abstract:The Yi ethnic group in Liangshan has a special culture and marriage customs, and is sensitive to words and topics such as "sex". In this context, girls of the Liangshan Yi ethnic group lack access to scientific sexual knowledge, resulting in a lack of sexual education. Through fieldwork and interviews, this paper understands the current situation and problems of sex education for girls in the family, school and society in the Liangshan Yi region, including: women in the Liangshan Yi region equate "sex education" with talking about "sex", such as birth, pregnancy, menstruation, and other taboos that cannot be mentioned in the region; sex education in schools is only about sex physiology, emphasizing how to maintain boundaries with boys and avoid sexually transmitted diseases; influenced by traditional family culture, Yi women do not have a correct attitude toward sexual assault and choose to tolerate it. Based on this, this paper synthesizes the understanding of sex education curriculum in China and other countries, and combines the unique sex culture of the Liangshan Yi region, by designing a sex education activity curriculum as a way out of the current situation of sex education for girls in the Liangshan Yi region.

Abstract:There is a huge public debate on CSE being amorous and inappropriate . The materials and curriculum for students are considered insufficient and inadequate due to socio-cultural factors , which are deep-rooted in society. Lack of knowledge about sexual and reproductive health and low access to sexual health services have forced young people to engage in unsafe sexual practices in Nepal. Sexuality education should cover lessons on the important role adolescents’ sexuality that plays in their personality, positive things that sexuality brings to life, and the role our sexuality plays in connecting an individual with others. Complete sexuality education must be scientifically and age-appropriately precise, culturally competent, and based on people’s rights, gender equality, and a positive approach to sexuality and pleasure based that sexuality education affects general health, adaptation to the environment and quality of life and contributes to an optimal life of your choice. Children and teenagers need to get precise clarification about understanding sexuality on how to practice healthy sexual behavior while unhealthy or exploitative risky sexual activity can lead to health and social problems, such as unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. The article reviews the current perspectives and situation of CSE among adolescents of Nepal. A review of government documents and research articles has been conducted, and the findings have been synopsized. Consequently, the curriculum developers and policymakers were provided with the recommendations to address common problems that are evitable among adolescents as well as guidelines for teachers’ training on related topics.

Abstract:School moral education in any country is carried out in a particular social and cultural context. The renewal of policy and practice in moral education in China has come about because of a rapidly changing Chinese society, as a result of the government's ‘reform and opening up’ policy since the end of the 1970s. The consequent changes in the Chinese economy, politics and culture are innovatory and challenging. It is these changes that have brought about, and will continue to bring about, new ideas and practices in moral education. This paper describes how Chinese moral education has been influenced according to recent social changes and modernization in China, including the formation of the market economy, the impact of globalization, mass media and the Internet, cultural diversity and value pluralism, trends to democratization in politics, and structural changes in the family. It also considers the kind of social issues and challenges which are being dealt with and anticipated in policy, theory and practice in contemporary Chinese moral education.

Abstract:Taking the increasing implementation and practice of ‘quality‐oriented education’ as the background to the current reform, the paper outlines moral education in the Chinese junior high school over the last 25 years. It offers a brief review of a few theoretical and empirical research projects which have had some influence on the 2003 reform of the course of Ideology and Morality. It describes: three basic principles behind this new curriculum, focusing on the developing lives of students; curriculum characteristics with ideological, humanistic, practical and integrative dimensions; and the objectives of developing feelings, attitudes and value orientations, competencies and knowledge. The curriculum is illustrated by four textbook and class‐based examples of respect for parents, self‐esteem, environmental awareness and being a responsible citizen, which offer some insights into contemporary moral education with distinctive Chinese characteristics. Finally, the paper gives an overview of the significance of the moral education curriculum reform and of its ongoing challenges.

Abstract:Moral education as a concept is very comprehensive in China. It is implemented in two ways, one of which is through subject‐based moral education, the other is by means of all kinds of extra‐curricular activities. There are three groups of moral educators: teachers of subject‐based moral education, Party administrators and class teachers. The initial training of these teachers is undertaken at three levels of teacher training institutions: teachers' universities, colleges or schools. Three in‐service training approaches are described and illustrated: the first takes place in teachers' universities; the second is a school‐based approach; and the third is characterized by cooperation between university and school. Challenges for the further improvement of the training of moral educators are outlined and some suggestions made.

Abstract:Adolescence is a period in one’s lifetime during which sexual maturation occurs. Major changes and increased sexual instinct raise many questions in the minds of adolescents. Receiving wrong education or inappropriate information can affect adolescents’ life and future deeply. Obviously, ethical considerations cannot be ignored in nationwide macro policies and educational programs on such a sensitive issue. In this qualitative study, we attempted to explore the ethical considerations and challenges of sex education for adolescents. The study was conducted between May 2015 and March 2017. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with 25 participants, and MAXQDA 11 was used for coding. Six hundred sixty-two codes (662) were extracted and classified into four categories: 1) the potential risks of sex education for adolescents; 2) the advantages of sex education for adolescents, and the approaches; 3) the challenges in the interval between sexual maturation and marriage, and the role of religion; and 4) the measures implemented in Iran. Shame, embarrassment, and some cultural beliefs surrounding the subject of sex education are obstacles to providing adolescents with the necessary information. According to the principles of medical ethics, the main principle in sex education is beneficence, and sometimes infringement of confidentiality has its advantages.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to explore the influence of sexual modesty on sex education in China and to deeply study the shaping of sexual modesty on the content, method, and effect of sex education by analyzing the interaction between cultural tradition, social attitude, parental education, and educational practice. It is found that the concept of sexual modesty in Chinese society has influenced the content selection, teaching methods, and educational effect evaluation of sex education to some extent. Through theoretical analysis, literature review, and empirical research, this paper aims to provide in-depth insight and suggestions for developing sex education in China. The conservative underpinnings of Chinese culture have historically engendered a hesitancy to address sexual topics openly. Nonetheless, the evolving society necessitates a more comprehensive understanding of human sexuality. Balancing these two paradigms, the content of sex education can be expanded beyond traditional bounds, accommodating both enduring values and contemporary needs. Novel pedagogical methods, fostering interactive and participatory learning, could effectively transcend the restraint imposed by sexual modesty, enabling students to engage in informed discussions and develop healthy perspectives. Furthermore, evaluating the efficacy of sex education mandates a nuanced approach that amalgamates deeply ingrained beliefs with modern ideals. By harnessing theoretical analyses, comprehensive literature reviews, and empirical investigations, this study strives to furnish invaluable insights and pragmatic recommendations that can reshape the trajectory of sex education in China. This inclusive approach, informed by cultural wisdom and tailored to modern contexts, promises to cultivate well-rounded individuals capable of navigating their sexual journeys with knowledge and confidence.
