Abstract:The application of BIM technology in building construction provides the possibility to realize design accuracy, to visualize the construction details, to optimize construction schemes, and to enhance cooperation among various professionals. The Yancheng Nanyang Airport terminal 2 project, with its large span of steel roof structure, complex installation in mechanical and electrical pipeline (MEP) engineering, and difficulty in construction organization, is taken as the engineering background. The whole process application of BIM technology in the construction process is introduced. In structural engineering construction, the application of BIM technology can provide guidance for plane layout of the construction site, and can also assist in deepening the designs of irregular steel components. In steel construction, the application of BIM technology gives a commendable visual demonstration of the construction process of the metal roof system and the single-layer reticulated shell. In MEP engineering, the application of BIM technology provides a great approach to establish a synthesis of pipeline drawings to further form pipeline section diagrams and operation drawings. By integrating the dimension of time, precision control, and deviation rectification, a recursive construction drawing can be built. With respect to synergistic management, the quality and safety management in the construction site can be implemented on the basis of BIM terminal equipment as well. This paper will give a great reference on the application of BIM technology in the airport terminal construction.

Abstract:Earned Value Management Method (EVM), widely used in the world, is a project management method of costschedule integrated control. But the traditional EVM sometimes cannot provide an accurate result. In this paper, a practical method is given to analyze the project performance, in which the Network Diagram Method and the Critical Path Method have been introduced into EVM system that can better reflect the practical situation of a project. This improved method can be referred to assub-level earned value analysis method. This method can correct variance in the duration and cost forecast of the traditional EVM, and can also provide more information about the cause analysis.

Abstract:Railway Tunnel Works characterizes the concealment, including long construction period, complications on geology, hydrology, and technique and so on, which brings so many unforeseen risk factors through all stages of a project. Project investment risk exists throughout the entire process of project construction. As a result, it makes the investment risk great. What with this and what with that, the local risk management work is at the first step. So that it has already become an urgent able problem to carry out an investment risk management of the Tunnel Works. To qualitatively analysis the influence factors of the investment risk by establishing a checklist of the risk factors, Furthermore, to make a fixed valuation to the investment risk by means of the MC (Monte Carlo). According to the result of the risk assessment, a risk assessment and method dealing with the risk are got(take some tunnel in mountain area in the FUJIAN as an study object to take into the application). The result shows that there are so many factors which influence the investment risk including 5 major types and 33 small types, and the best total cost of the finished project ranges from 1.6135 to 1.6195 billion. In order to make the project practicable, the best investment cost range at 1.6255 billion. To wish it can provide references to the risk management of other similar engineering cases.

Abstract:Abstract The construction and management of airport asphalt pavement project has the characteristics of large construction scale, high technology, many professionals involved, and high quality requirements. The traditional monitoring and management method that relies on manual on-site inspections and records is vulnerable to many factors such as environmental conditions and the ability of the implementer. It is difficult to ensure real-time monitoring of construction quality and data backtracking. With the rapid development of various advanced technologies such as global navigation satellite system(GNSS), geographic information system(GIS) and internet of things(IoT), digital construction monitoring and management technology for airport asphalt pavement has emerged as the times require. Digital construction technology is implemented through professional testing equipment, data collection, data integration, and system installation. It covers the entire construction process of airport asphalt pavement from the background management of the mixing plant, the transportation management of vehicles to the field management of paving and compaction. The technology monitors the construction quality, guarantees the construction progress, improves management efficiency, and saves costs, which has great social and economic benefits.

Abstract:Abstract On the background of airfield engineering of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, firstly, the paper introduces the construction method of vibrated stone column piles and explains its importance in foundation treatment. Secondly, it describes the basic concept of vibrated stone column piles and the digital monitoring system, and mainly describes the system function of the digital monitoring system. Thirdly, it shows that the system is fully installed and used in the construction of the airport. Finally, we analyzed the collected real data to testify our opinion that the system can optimize management level, ensure and improve the quality of the airport construction.

Abstract:Driven by the strong civil aviation strategy for powerful nation, the civil aviation industry has continued to develop rapidly. The pavement of the running and sliding system has also been subjected to a sustained high load, accelerating the destruction of the pavement. In order to ensure the safe and comfortable operation of the aircraft, it is necessary to conduct a quasi-evaluation of the performance of the road surface regularly, which provides routine decision-making for pavement maintenance and repair. In this paper, the ground penetrating radar (GPR) is used to evaluate the pavement defects at several selected representative airports in China. GPR is also compared with other detection methods. The result shows that GPR has the advantages of high detection speed, high working efficiency, strong visibility of assessment results and having little impact on the airport's safe operation, which is suitable for non-stop operation of the airport.

Abstract:Purpose Airports are booming in China, to enlarge their capacities and stimulate economic development. Large-span spatial steel structures are commonly used in the terminal buildings of airport projects. Their advantages include prefabrication, strength, usability, adaptability and aesthetic quality. To manage large-span spatial steel structure projects, building information modeling (BIM) is recommended. Although there are plenty of studies on BIM application in steel structure projects, it is still rare to apply BIM to optimize the schedule and cost of steel structures, especially for airport projects. Design/methodology/approach This paper aims to develop a framework in which BIM and a time-cost optimization model are integrated to optimize construction costs and the duration of large-span spatial steel structure projects. A real case study was conducted to verify the feasibility of the BIM-based time-cost optimization model in an airport terminal building, which was built with a large-span spatial steel structure. Findings The results preliminarily support the reliability of the proposed BIM-based time-cost optimization model. The BIM-based time-cost optimization model will benefit construction planning for professionals and enrich relevant research on the application of BIM in large-span spatial steel structure projects. Originality/value The steel structure is difficult to control budgets and progress. This paper is expected to be adopted for optimizing the time and cost plans for projects involving steel structures in airport terminal buildings.

Abstract:Construction cost management is one of the three goals in project management. The level of its management is directly related to the profitability of the company. In recent years, construction companies have put forward more accurate and refined requirements for cost management. The more traditional cost management methods are it is difficult to deal with complex and changeable situations. Therefore, this article studies the application of BIM technology in construction cost management of construction projects is of great significance to the construction of Chinese enterprises. This article associates the cost plan with the schedule plan. The core is the component or the set of components. After completing the information association, the cost model is established. Finally, the earned value method is used to complete the control based on the good data support of the BIM-based 5D cost model. Time, space, and element dimensions fully control cost dynamics. With the help of BIM, this article can make up for the difficulty of data acquisition and easy to be affected by human factors in the earned value management method, and improve the earned value management process. This paper studies the latest BIM technology in the construction field, and explores the application method of BIM in cost management. Improve the information level of engineering project management, enhance the dynamic management of project costs, and improve the resource utilization rate of the construction industry. This paper uses BIM calculation software to convert the traditional CAD drawings into three-dimensional models, import them into BIM5D software, and manage them in detail during the construction phase. Its innovation is to use the three-dimensional building model to integrate various data information such as cost, schedule, information, and realize the sharing of data and various information. Research has shown that cost management has been simulated by BIM technology to achieve timely and accurate information support. In this process, the integrated control effect of schedule and cost can be fully utilized.

Abstract:This paper describes a new perspective to consider and quantify uncertainty in construction schedules. In the study, a methodology was presented by modeling construction project scheduling using event chains, classification of the events and event chains, identification of critical events, analysis of effect of the events on project duration, and chance of project completion. To demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed methodology, a real airport terminal example is provided. Moreover, schedule risk analysis system and risk break down structure are also developed as an essential part.

Abstract:The earned value method (EVM) is an internationally known technique for project management that emphasizes the control of project cost performance and duration, thus allowing trends to be identified during execution and warning the project manager of variances that may affect the project so that they can take the necessary corrective measures. In this research, the finished projects of a construction company in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, were assessed. EVM was applied to projects from a database developed with information from each one to rebuild past events, existing problems, and critical points and evaluate the performance over time. The results of this analysis are meant to determine the project’s success, calculating the cost variance at the end. EVM motivates project stakeholders to pay attention to costs and progress so that timely actions can be taken to optimize resources, resulting in the completion of a project within budget and on time. In conclusion, EVM plays an essential role in the integral management of the project in terms of scope, time, and cost. Moreover, there are now guidelines for applying this method as a control tool in future construction projects.
