Abstract:Spatial thinking is of great importance to the science,technology,engineering,and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.While gender differences do exist,average gender differences do not tell us about individual performance.As spatial thinking is malleable,caregivers and teachers can improve children's spatial thinking by using analogy,external symbol systems (language,maps,graphs & diagrams),and other spatial tools (gesture and sketching) in many areas.
