Abstract:The wave functions of the bound state of the charged kaon are obtained from Bethe-Salpeter equation with the phenomenological vector-vector-type flat-bottom potential. The physical spacelike electromagnetic form factor of the charged kaon is calculated from the wave functions. The radius of the kaon is given from the electromagnetic form factor. The decay constant f K of the kaon is estimated by the relationship between the decay constant and the normalization factor derived from the axial-vector Ward identity. All calculated results give a good fit to the experimental values.

Abstract:The question of pseudovector versus pseudoscalar coupling schemes for the kaon-hyperon-nucleon interaction is reexamined for the reaction gamma p-->K(+)Lambda in several isobaric models. These models typically include Born terms, K* and K-l exchanges in the t channel, and a few different combinations of spin-1/2 baryon resonances in the s and u channels. The coupling constants are obtained by fitting to a large data set. We find that both pseudoscalar and pseudovector couplings can allow for a satisfactory description of the present database. The resulting coupling constants, g(K Lambda N) and g(K Sigma N), in the pseudovector coupling scheme are smaller than those predicted using flavor SU(3) symmetry, but consistent with the values obtained in a QCD sum rule calculation.

Abstract:We propose a quantization procedure for the nucleon-scalar meson system, in which an arbitrary mean scalar meson field $\phi$ is introduced. The equivalence of this procedure with the usual ones is proven for any given value of $\phi$. By use of this procedure, the scalar meson field in the Walecka's RMFT and in Chin's RHA are quantized around the mean field. Its corrections on these theories are considered by perturbation up to the second order. The arbitrariness of $\phi$ makes us free to fix it at any stage in the calculation. When we fix it in the way of Walecka's RMFT, the quantum corrections are big, and the result does not converge. When we fix it in the way of Chin's RHA, the quantum correction is negligibly small, and the convergence is excellent. It shows that RHA covers the leading part of quantum field theory for nuclear systems and is an excellent zeroth order approximation for further quantum corrections, while the Walecka's RMFT does not. We suggest to fix the parameter $\phi$ at the end of the whole calculation by minimizing the total energy per-nucleon for the nuclear matter or the total energy for the finite nucleus, to make the quantized relativistic mean field theory (QRMFT) a variational method.

Abstract:Previously, we presented an alternative relativistic formalism for nonrelativistic two-body bound-state systems [T. Zhang, L. Xiao, and R. Koniuk, Can. J. Phys. 70, 670 (1992)]. The kernel of the integral equation for the bound-state systems is generated by summing Feynman scattering amplitudes and multiplying by a bound-state amplitude. In this paper, we present our calculations of two-loop contributions to hyperfine splitting of positronium to order alpha6 coming from vacuum-polarization corrections to two-exchange-photon interactions.

Abstract:The neutral kaon system is described conventionally by a 2 x 2 static non-Hermitian effective Hamiltonian. The corrections to the formulation can be classifed into two classes: one is a power-type correction which changes the exponential behaviour of the time evolution operator and the other changes the coefficients in front of the exponential. We show that the second type of correction is much larger than the first one. However, these effects are of the order of 10(-14) or less, far beyond the range of foreseeable CPT or CP violation neutral kaon experiments.

Abstract:A simple hadronic transport model is proposed for studying the rescattering effect of the pion on the K/pi ratio in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions. The experimental evidences of evolutionary increase of the K/pi ratio from p + p to p + Au and to Si + Au at similar incident energy per nucleon are reproduced reasonably. Experimental results of the K/pi ratio at CERN energy (200 GeV/nucleon p + W and S + W) comparable with corresponding results at the Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron energy (14.6 GeV/nucleon p + Au and Si + Au) are reproduced as well.

The non-relativistic expansion of Dirac-Coulomb energy and the non-retarded Breit interaction correction up to $α^8$order

Abstract:The relativistic corrections for the Dirac-Coulomb system are derived through the method of non-relativistic expansion. By expanding the large and small components of the Dirac wave function and the energy eigenvalues in terms of the square of the fine-structure constant $\alpha^2$, we obtain iterative equations for calculating the higher-order relativistic corrections of Coulomb systems. For a single-electron system, the operator results of the iterative equations are consistent with those in the literature Ref[J.Phys.B,<a class="link-external link-http" href="http://At.Mol.Opt.Phys" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>.{\bf 56} 045001]. Using these iterative equations, we numerically calculate the relativistic corrections up to the order of $\alpha^{20}$ for the hydrogen atom, which converge rapidly to the analytical results of the hydrogen atom. For the two-electron Dirac-Coulomb system, we also present iterative equations for calculating high-order energy corrections, as well as numerical energy corrections of ground state up to the order of $\alpha^8$. This work also presents the non-relativistic expansion form of non-retarded Breit interaction correction. The $\alpha^4$ order correction to the Dirac Coulomb energy and non-retarded Breit interaction corresponds precisely to the $\alpha^4$ order relativistic correction. Higher-order expansion terms contribute at even powers of $\alpha$, which represent the contributions from all Coulomb photons and single transverse photons under the non-retarded approximation.

Relativistic corrections to J/ψ exclusive and inclusive double charm production at B factories

Abstract:In order to clarify the puzzling problems in double-charm production, relativistic corrections at order v(2) to the processes e(+)e(-)-> J/psi+eta(c) and e(+)e(-)-> J/psi+c (c) over bar at B factories are studied in nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics. The short-distance parts of production cross sections are calculated perturbatively, while the long-distance matrix elements are estimated from J/psi and eta(c) decays up to errors of order v(4). Our results show that the relativistic correction to the exclusive process e(+)e(-)-> J/psi+eta(c) is significant, which, when combined together with the next-to-leading-order alpha(s) corrections, could resolve the large discrepancy between theory and experiment; whereas for the inclusive process e(+)e(-)-> J/psi+c (c) over bar the relativistic correction is tiny and negligible. The physical reason for the above difference between exclusive and inclusive processes largely lies in the fact that in the exclusive process the relative momentum between quarks in charmonium substantially reduces the virtuality of the gluon that converts into a charm quark pair, but this is not the case for the inclusive process, in which the charm quark fragmentation c -> J/psi+c is significant, and QCD radiative corrections can be more essential.

Abstract:Recent years have seen considerable progress with ab-initio calculations of the nuclear structure by non-relativistic many-body methods. Dirac-Brueckner-Hartree-Fock Theory provides a relativistic ab-intio approach, which is able to reproduce saturation properties of symmetric nuclear matter without three-body forces. However, so far, the corresponding equations have been solved only for positive energy states. Negative energy states have been included for forty years in various approximations, leading to differences in the isospin dependence. This problem has been solved only recently by a complete solution of the self-consistent relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock equations in asymmetric nuclear matter. Due to its numerical complexity, however, it is very difficult to extend the Relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock theory to the study of finite nuclear systems. Recent efforts will be discussed to overcome this problem.
Relativistic and Recoil Corrections to Vacuum polarization in muonic systems: Three--photon exchange, gauge invariance and numerical values

Abstract:For an accurate theoretical description of muonic bound systems, it is crucial to consistently treat relativistic and recoil corrections to vacuum polarization. The one-loop vacuum-polarization effect is by far the dominant quantum electrodynamic (QED) energy correction for bound muons, being of order $\alpha (Z\alpha)^2 m_r$, where $\alpha$ is the fine-structure constant, $Z$ is the nuclear charge number, and $m_r$ is the reduced mass. Gauge invariance of the relativistic and recoil corrections to vacuum polarization of order $\alpha (Z\alpha)^4 m_r$ is investigated with respect to nonretarded and standard, renormalized variants of Coulomb gauge. The invariance is shown after including three-photon exchange diagrams. Our derivation is based on an adapted form of Nonrelativistic Quantum Electrodynamics for bound muon systems (NRQED$_\mu$), which is a version of NRQED where the hard scale is set at the muon mass instead of the electron mass. Updated values for the gauge-independent corrections for one-muon ions with nuclear charge numbers $Z = 1,2,6$ are presented.

Abstract:We calculate the annihilation decay widths of spin-singlet heavy quarkonia ${h}_{c}$, ${h}_{b}$ and ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{b}$ into light hadrons with both QCD and relativistic corrections at order $O({\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}{v}^{2})$ in nonrelativistic QCD. With appropriate estimates for the long-distance matrix elements by using the potential model and operator evolution method, we find that our predictions of these decay widths are consistent with recent experimental measurements. We also find that the $O({\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}{v}^{2})$ corrections are small for $b\overline{b}$ states but substantial for $c\overline{c}$ states. In particular, the negative contribution of $O({\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}{v}^{2})$ correction to the ${h}_{c}$ decay can lower the decay width, as compared with previous predictions without the $O({\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}{v}^{2})$ correction, and thus result in a good agreement with the recent BESIII measurement.

Abstract:The isospin symmetry-breaking corrections δc obtained with the self-consistent relativistic RPA approaches are presented. It is shown that the proper treatment of the Coulomb mean field is very important for extracting these corrections. The nucleus-independent Ft value, the Vud matrix element and the unitarity of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix are discussed. The effects of neutron-proton mass difference on the isospin symmetry-breaking corrections are also investigated.

Abstract:Manifestly Lorentz-invariant baryon chiral perturbation theory is used to calculate the radiative correction of low energy elastic lepton proton scatterings. Corrections of differential cross section and charge asymmetry are given at chiral next-to-leading order (O(p2)) with a nonzero lepton mass, which are infrared and ultraviolet finite. Pseudoscalar Heavy Quarkonium Decays with Both Relativistic and QCD Radiative Corrections

Abstract:We estimate the decay rates of eta(c)--> 2 gamma, eta(c)' --> 2 gamma and J/psi --> e(+)e(-), psi' --> e(+)e(-), by taking into account both relativistic and QCD radiative corrections. The decay amplitudes are derived in the Bethe-Salpeter formalism. The Bethe-Salpeter equation with a QCD-inspired interquark potential is used to calculate the wave functions and decay widths for these cc states. We find that the relativistic correction to the ratio R equivalent to Gamma(eta(c) --> 2 gamma)/Gamma(J/psi --> e(+)e(-)) is negative and tends to compensate the positive contribution from the QCD radiative correction. Our estimates give Gamma(eta(c) --> 2 gamma)=(6 - 7) keV and Gamma(eta(c)' - 2 gamma) = 2 keV, which are smaller than their nonrelativistic values. The hadronic widths Gamma(eta(c) --> 2g)=(17-23) MeV and Gamma(eta(c)' --> 2g)=(5-7) MeV are then indicated accordingly to the first-order QCD radiative correction, if alpha(s)(m(c))= 0.26 - 0.29. The decay widths for the b (b) over bar states are also estimated. We show that when making the assumption that the quarks are on their mass shells our expressions for the decay widths will become identical to that in the nonrelativistic QCD theory to the next to leading order of upsilon(2) and alpha(s).

Abstract:We present a new relativistic bound-state formalism for two interacting Fermi–Dirac particles. The kernel of the integral equation for the bound-state system is generated by summing Feynman scattering amplitudes and multiplying by a bound-state amplitude. The method is illustrated through calculations of the hyperfine and fine splittings of positronium up to order α5. Our calculations of the one-loop contributions are carried out in the explicitly covariant Feynman gauge. We also present new results for the hyperfine and fine splittings in positronium to order α5 for arbitrary principal quantum number n, which are easily obtained owing to the virtue of conceptual and calculational simplicity of our formalism. In addition, we present the one-loop renormalization scheme in our formalism.
Relativistic corrections to decays of heavy baryons in the quark model

Abstract:We investigate relativistic corrections of an order 1/m2 , where m is the constituent quark mass, to heavy baryon decays by emitting one pseudoscalar meson in the quark model. This work is motivated by shortcomings in the previous studies in the nonrelativistic quark model for decays of the Roper-like states, such as Λc(2765) . We find that the relativistic corrections due to the internal motion of quarks are essential ingredients in improving their decay properties, such that the decay widths are significantly increased. On the relation between $K^{0}_{s}$ and charged kaon yields in proton-proton collisions

Abstract:A compilation of the experimental p+p data of neutral and charged kaon production has revealed a discrepancy between the observed $K^{0}_{s}$ yield and the average number of produced charged kaons $K^{0}_{s}=(K^{+}+K^{-})/2$. This widespread relation holds only for a colliding system that is an uniform population w.r. to the isospin (i.e. that consists of an equal number of all members of a given isospin multiplet). This is not the case for p+p collisions therefore one should not expect that it will describe the data accurately. A much better agreement is obtained with a model based on the quark structure of the participating hadrons.
