Abstract:We developed a facile preparation method of TiO2 nanoparticle with varying degrees of agglomeration and high crystallinity via one-step solvothermal reaction using ethanol as solvent, acetyl acetone as inhibitor and tetra-n-butyl titanate as titanium source. The effects of the inhibitor content on the TiO2 nanoparticles morphology, absorption property and device characteristics were discussed. Several techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, UV–Vis and BET were used to characterize the products. Then, these TiO2 nanoparticles were assembled into dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Analysis of the J-V curves, IPCE, EIS, IMVS and IMPS were applied to characterize the devices. Through adjusting the inhibitor (acetyl acetone) content, TiO2 nanoparticles with varying degrees of agglomeration and different dye adsorption can be prepared. The results indicated that good photovoltage performance mainly stemmed from high dye adsorption, low recombination rate, long electron lifetime and excellent electron diffusion coefficient. The highest power conversion efficiency of the devices reached 8.42%, which, compared with that of P25-based solar cell (6.10%), increased by 38.03%.
