Abstract:The emergence of new information and communication technologies and new social communication practices has called for the transformation of communication studies.Communication researchers have been asking a number of questions:Can the new information and communication technologies lead to a paradigm shift in communication theories?Are classic communication theories still applicable to the new media environment?What are the new research questions that emerge in the new media age?What are the interactions between the new information and communication technologies and new media research?How do the new media studies transform the current communication research?How should Chinese new media research be developed under the background of globalization and unique context of Chinese society and culture ? Based on the review of previous research,this study analyzes three approaches to new media studies,namely social scientific,critical,and interpretive paradigms,and reveals three findings.First,it is the changing communication activities and practices in which people engage that lead to the changing views of communication,such as a shift from″media-audience″study to ″new media-user″study.Moreover,the development of new media industry not only generates new research objects and theories,but offers new perspectives and methods to test classic theories.Second,in examining the relationship between new media technologies and social change,this study concludes that technological determinism is usually a dominant paradigm in the early phase of new media technologies.As these new technologies diffuse,researchers will turn to a social shaping perspective that focuses on how new media technologies are shaped by various social forces on the one hand,and are shaping social life in socio-historical contexts on the other.Third,the emergence of new media events has become a unique and influential communication phenomenon that attracts the attention of a large number of Chinese communication researchers.Nevertheless,most of these studies are case studies and are limited to the application of western theories to the Chinese society,thus failing to provide any insight into the communication mechanism in the Chinese new media environment.Against such a backdrop,this study suggests apossible direction for Chinese scholars to facilitate a″cultural shift″of new media research,to adopt the″thick description″method of cultural sociology to reveal the specific implications of new media events,and to uncover the socio-psychological consequences of these events and their associated social factors in the Chinese context.The goal is to highlight the interplay of different social forces in new media studies in transitional China.Meanwhile,scholars should take advantage of new media technologies to develop new research methods and procedures,to explore unique research questions in the Chinese social and cultural context,and to generate new theories that can facilitate the development of communication research.

Abstract:With the continuous development of social science and internet technology, media convergence has become an inevitable trend in the development of the media industry, and the current society has entered the era of media convergence. In this environment, media convergence has emerged at a pivotal period. Traditional media and emerging media are integrating with one another, putting forward not only new but also higher requirements for the traditional publishing industry in China. Under the development trend of this kind of media, the digital publishing industry chain is undergoing profound changes, and the publishing industry must actively upgrade its thought ideas, operation mechanism, information dissemination, and many other optimization transformations to ensure that under media convergence, there is stability of the traditional publishing industry, sustainable innovation, as well as development. Abstract:Media convergence is thriving in terms of either practical experience or scholastic debates around the world. This study aims to examine journalistic convergence in China. Using qualitative data drawn from the case study of Shenzhen Press Group in Guangdong, South China, we argue that the media’s response to the Chinese government’s push for media convergence is simply a gesture of compliance. While media management do not consider convergence as a prime concern, rank-and-file editors and journalists respond to media convergence with non-cooperation or non-acceptance. The study concludes, on the basis of the specific contexts in which China’s media convergence operates, that social context and, in particular, the relationship between media and state should be fully taken into consideration in studies of media convergence.

Abstract:With the accelerating innovation and convergence & penetration of information technology, China's publishing industry has been gradually transforming and upgrading from digitalization to a new stage of digital intelligence, which in turn has led to the progress and transformation of the entire digital content industry. This article discusses the four aspects of application of media convergence covered by digital media technology, which includes content creative convergence, product/service form convergence, content distribution channel convergence and content consumption convergence. PPMG is taken as an example to explore the theoretical research and practical application of convergent publishing from three levels. From the level of publishing industry, the innovative application of convergence of various elements of the industry chain is discussed, from the level of publishing groups, the innovative application of convergence of production and service models is discussed, and from the level of publishers, the innovative application of convergence of IP development and experience models is discussed. Finally, it is proposed that the direction of convergence publishing development is to deeply plow diversified scene services, to look insight into multi-dimensional user experience, to promote three-dimensional marketing integration, and to provide accurate digital content product services. The media technology in the scene era will change the media form, reshape the new media norm, reconstruct the new ecology of communication, and lay down the new thinking of publishing convergence.

Abstract:The article is devoted to a theoretical study of the role of media convergence in the formation of social communication and cyber culture. Comprehensive analysis showed that the convergence of mass media has become a defining factor in the interaction between people and the media. During the discussion of various aspects of media convergence and its place in public relations, connections with traditional culture, scientific conclusions were drawn. The study found how media convergence contributes to the development of cyberculture. People actively interact through social networks, forums, blogs and other online platforms, forming their own digital communities and groups. In the virtual space, they share their knowledge, interests and new ideas, thus creating modern forms of cyberculture. The authors showed that media convergence, driven by such active connections, increases the accessibility and convenience of information and entertainment.The final results of the article confirm that media convergence is an important determining factor in the formation of social communication and cyber culture. The influence of convergence on the relationship between people and the trajectory of the development of the information society as a whole is assessed.The findings of the study show that the study of convergent trends in the mass media helps to predict the development of the state and society, to develop strategies that direct social communication and virtual culture in a direction that is useful for society

Abstract:This article discusses how media convergence, as a new era of media in welcoming the industrial revolution, is not working properly. The purpose of this study is to explain how the media today still often create content with profit priority. By using Vincent Mosco's political economy theory and case studies on local media with national networks, the author tries to unravel how the media performs its functions. As a result, even though the media has developed more advanced with the era of digital media, the media is still often used for political interests or other interests through the titles or news content they make. To anticipate this, the general public should equip themselves with the capabilities of media literacy and digital literacy, so that they cannot choose a media that is suitable for consumption in the era of industrial revolution 4.0 where the media has developed into digital domain.

Abstract:In the new media ear, convergence media construction of universities is a new platform of news publicity and image building of universities. It plays an irreplaceable role in expanding influence, reshaping its image and conveying campus culture. The research object of this paper is 8 universities which are the pilot universities of China's educational convergence media construction. It is found that there are some problems in university convergence media construction, such as media positioning separation, low usage of convergence media distribution tools. Meanwhile, the role of convergence media center is not prominent. This study shows that it is important to find out the role orientation of convergence media, enrich the content theme of convergence media, and strengthen the centralized management of convergence media, in order to enhance the communication power and influence of university convergence media.

Abstract:With the continuous development of the Internet and the rapid development of mobile new media in china, media convergence has become the trend of mainstream media. The pattern of information communication has changed greatly, and it has also changed ecological environment of the network public opinion in our country, which has brought new demands to public opinion guidance and media rationality of mainstream media. At present, the network communication has a profound impact on media ecology and the pattern of public opinion in china, the network platform has become "public opinion pool" which in the interest demands and expressions of all sectors of society, emotional catharsis, exchange of ideas. Open, rational, stable sound constitutes a "normal ecological pond", but the network public opinion showed a lower ignition temperature and spread fast, poor credibility etc. So there are some problems such as language violence, group polarization, network siege and other non rational behaviors. In this paper, the causes and manifestations of media irrationality in the public opinion on the social hot events of mainstream media are described, the harm of media irrationality is analyzed and discussed, and the recommendations of media irrational measures are proposed. Abstract:<span>An interpretivist methodology was adopted in the research using interview and observation techniques to build a broader qualitative picture of media convergence and innovation of lifestyle media organisations in PRC. By tracking the convergence of three media from 2014 to 2017 in China, this study has found that in the transitional period, the macro-political system unavoidably plays a restrictive role while the motivation of media organisation leadership to innovate is the key factor to success. Furthermore, original content production based on accurate positioning of the target as a niche player is positively linked to performance and profitability. The research team argues that it is not the mainstream news media, but instead the small and agile niche-player media that may pioneer the process of media convergence and innovation.</span>

Abstract:The purpose of this article is to examine the process of emergence and views of foreign and Russian researchers on the problem of the processes of media convergence. Focuses on the sociological aspect of the phenomenon. Provided basic concepts, the trends and prospects in the study of media convergence as a modern phenomenon. Rethinking the concept of convergence began with the publications in which knowledge and technology have been named as key components of future economy, convergence has become a phenomenon to be reckoned with, which will soon become a defining concept in the context of globalization. Considering the media environment as a system consisting of means of communication, foreign sociologists have radically changed the view of modern media, of their possibilities, their degree of influence on the society. The impact of media convergence on the life of each person, his worth in society, his mind, the ways of communication, to the professional world, and to leisure is only a part of important research areas. In general, the history of the development of sociological views on the processes of media convergence adjusts to multicontextual in the study of media. Today should be studied in the aggregate of all modern scientific disciplines, in both theoretical and practical applied aspects. In the end, the author has compiled a table that presented the stages of development of sociological views on the processes of media convergence with a brief description of each of them. The main trends and promising sociological research relevant to the challenges of the present time.

What kinds of literacy practices are students developing through their use and composition of multimodal and new media texts? What genres are used in the creation of such texts, and why? Abstract:Previous studies on the influence of media convergence in China either took a market- or norm-oriented approach. From a news production perspective, the current study analyses the interaction between the top-down design and bottom-up practices of journalists to disclose the influence of the dominant path of media convergence within the press industry of Fujian Province. A survey and 20 in-depth interviews show that the current media convergence practices of Fujian’s press industry fail to receive the support of journalists because of institutional, organisational and individual complexities, rather than technological reasons. This study discusses the implications of this finding for media convergence in China.
