Abstract:Purpose To explore the different expression pattern of survivin in colon carcinomas and its relationship with clinicopathologic features and prognosis.Methods Immunohistochemical study was performed to detect the expression of survivin in 80 cases of colon carcinoma.Results Survivin was detected in 65(81.25%) cases,including 35 cases with nuclear expression and 43 with cytoplasmic expression.The nuclear positive staining of survivin in colon carcinoma was negatively related to lymph node metastasis and histological grade (P0.05).The cytoplasmic expression of survivin in colon carcinoma with stagesⅠand Ⅱ was higher than that in stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ (P0.05).Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed the survival times of colon carcinoma with nuclear expression of survivin was longer than that without nuclear expression of surviving (P0.05).There was no difference between the cytoplasmic positive and negative group (P0.05).Conclusions Survivin expression pattern in colon carcinoma shows different prognostic value,and especially nuclear expression of survivin can be a favorable prognostic marker for colon carcinoma.
