Evaluation of the effectiveness of the common drugs for herpes simplex keratitis by using the evidence-based medicine method

Abstract:To evaluate the effectiveness of the common drugs which are used for curing herpes simplex keratitis(HSK)by using the evidence-based medicine method(EBM method).We electronically searched the China national knowledge infrastructure(CNKI)database,MEDLINE and Cochrane library(The first edition,2008),meanwhile,we contacted with researchers and got more associated research document.In the process,there were two reviewers who independently searched,extracted and checked with each other,the two reviewers would evaluate the methodology which was adopted in these documents,also,they analyzed the documents by using the EBM method.We indexed about 284 documents,in which there were 73 documents to fit with the criterion.Then we analyzed and evaluated these documents one by one,of which the contents included the Stochastic Method,Baseline Information,Incorporate and Exclude Criteria,Blinding,Lost Case Description,Statistically Process,etc.Finally,we drew the conclusion by using the Meta-Analysis.The cure rate of Iduridine is lower than that of Vidarabine,Trifluridine,Bromovinyldeoxyuridine and Acyclovir,the cure rate of the four latter medicines is almost the same.The curative effect of combination of Interferon and Anti-Virus medicine is much better than that of solely using any medicine.And it had no relation with the dosage and category of Interferon.Using EBM can help the clinical physician to lay down the best cure scheme and the clinical research direction,moreover,it can provide the basis of health policy for the Health Decision Agency,avoiding the waste of the limited hygiene resource.
