Comparative Analysis of Volatile Compounds from Pissodes yunnanensis

Abstract:N-hexane was used to extract the volatile compounds from the mating male and female's thorax and abdomen of Pissodes yunnanensis.By means of GC-MS,we found that the female's volatile compounds were more than those of the male's,and there were significant differences between volatile compounds from the male and the female.There were 43 compounds identified from the female,most of which were monoterpenes,sesquiterpene and various alcohols.Among them there were 14 compounds same as the volatile compounds from their host plants Pinus yunnanensis Franch.However,among 20 compounds identified from the male,most of them were toluene and n-alkanes,with only 3 compounds same as the volatile components from their host plants.There were 3 sex pheromone compounds of other insects identified in the volatile compounds from the male and the female,i.e.,cis-7-dodecenyl acetate,cis-9-tetradecenyl acetate and cis-11-hexadecenyl acetate.Further behavioral,electrophysiological and field experiments should be done to justify if these 3 compounds are sex pheromones used by Pissodes yunnanesis.
