Status and Influencing Factors of Evidence-Based Nursing(EBN)Related Qualities for Clinical Nurses

Abstract:Objective To understand the status and influencing factors of Evidence-Based Nursing(EBN)related qualities for clinical nurses in Zhejiang Province,so that to provide reliable theory basis for EBN interventions.Methods Totally 831 nurses from 22 hospitals in 11 cities of Zhejiang Province were recruited and assessed by Qualities of EBN questionnaire and Chinese version of EBN practice disorder scale.Results The investigation suggests that the scores of 62.2% of clinical nurses' EBN related qualities were in the lower level and 5.2% of them were in the lowest level,without basic qualities.About 45.5% of clinical nurses' barriers in Evidence-Based Nursing practice were in the moderate level,and 24.3% were in severe level.The main influencing factors of clinical nurses' EBN related qualities are nurses' professional titles and positions,and the scores of barriers in Evidence-Based Nursing(P<0.05).The higher professional titles and positions,the lower scores of barriers in Evidence-Based nursing are,the higher clinical nurse's qualities they have.Conclusion The EBN related qualities of clinical nurses in Zhejiang Province needs to be improved.Hospital managers should attach importance to EBN and provide the organizational guarantee to build good scientific atmosphere.Managers of hospital should establish a backbone group,to take elite training and layered training to strengthen EBN education.Hospitals should improve hardware facilities to promote the development of evidence-based nursing.
