Abstract:In this paper, we give a class of C *-algebras with non-stable K 1 -group property which include the example non-simple tracial topological rank zero and stable rank two C *-algebra given by Lin and Osaka.

Abstract:Let λ and μ be sequence spaces and have both the signed-weak gliding hump property, (λ, μ) the algebra of the infinite matrix operators which transform λ into μ. In this paper, it is proved that if λ and μ are β-spaces and λ β and μ β have also the signed-weak gliding hump property, then for any polar topology τ, ((λ, μ), τ) is always sequentially complete locally convex topological algebra.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct a class of ASH algebras of real rank zero and stable rank one which is not K-pure. Then we show the following: (i) There exists a real rank zero inductive limit of 1-dimensional noncommutative CW complexes which is not an A$\mathcal{HD}$ algebra, when $K_1$ is torsion free or has bounded torsion. (ii) Total K-theory is not a complete invariant for ASH algebras of real rank zero. (iii) There are obstructions both in the total K-theory of ideals and quotients in the classification of $C^*$-algebras of real rank zero and stable rank one.

Abstract:In this paper, we exhibit two unital, separable, nuclear ${\rm C}^*$-algebras of stable rank one and real rank zero with the same ordered scaled total K-theory, but they are not isomorphic with each other, which forms a counterexample to Elliott Classification Conjecture for real rank zero setting. Thus, we introduce an additional normal condition and give a classification result in terms of total K-theory. For the general setting, with a new invariant -- total Cuntz semigroup \cite{AL}, we classify a large class of ${\rm C}^*$-algebras obtained from extensions. The total Cuntz semigroup, which distinguish the algebras of our counterexample, could possibly classify all the ${\rm C}^*$-algebras of stable rank one and real rank zero.

Abstract:In this paper, a new invariant was built towards the classification of separable C*-algebras of real rank zero, which we call latticed total K-theory. A classification theorem is given in terms of such an invariant for a large class of separable C*-algebras of real rank zero arising from the extensions of finite and infinite C*-algebras. Many algebras with both finite and infinite projections can be classified.

Abstract:Given a simple, acyclic dimension group $G_{0}$ and countable, torsion-free, abelian group $G_{1}$, we construct a minimal, amenable, étale equivalence relation $R$ on a Cantor set whose associated groupoid $C^{*}$-algebra, $C^{*}(R)$, is tracially AF, and hence classifiable in the Elliott classification scheme for simple, amenable, separable $C^{*}$-algebras, and with $K_{*}(C^{*}(R)) \cong(G_{0}, G_{1})$.

Abstract:We identify a class of smooth Banach *-algebras that are differential subalgebras of commutative C*-algebras whose openness of multiplication is completely determined by the topological stable rank of the target C*-algebra. We then show that group algebras of Abelian groups of unbounded exponent fail to have uniformly open convolution. Finally, we completely characterise in the complex case (uniform) openness of multiplication in algebras of continuous functions in terms of the covering dimension.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a unital simple AH-algebra with stable rank one and real rank zero such that $kx=0$ for all $x\in\operatorname{ker}\rho_A$, the subgroup of infinitesmal elements in $K_0(A)$, and for the same integer $k\ge 1$. Abstract:Let $\Omega$ be a class of unital $\rm C^{*}$-algebras. The class of ${\rm C^*}$-algebras which are asymptotical tracially in $\Omega$, denoted by ${\rm AT}\Omega$. In this paper, we will show that the following class of ${\rm C^*}$-algebras in the class $\Omega$ are inherited by simple unital ${\rm C^*}$-algebras in the class $\rm T\Omega$ $(1)$ the class of real rank zero ${\rm C^*}$-algebras, $(2)$ the class of ${\rm C^*}$-algebras with the radius of comparison $n$, and $(3)$ the class of $\rm AT\Omega$. As an application, let $\Omega$ be a class of unital ${\rm C^*}$-algebras which have generalized tracial rank at most one (or has tracial topological rank zero, or has tracial topological rank one). Let $A$ be a unital separable simple ${\rm C^*}$-algebra such that $A\in \rm AT\Omega$, then $A$ has generalized tracial rank at most one (or has tracial topological rank zero, or has tracial topological rank one).

Abstract:We investigate when discrete, amenable groups have $C^*$-algebras of real rank zero. While it is known that this happens when the group is locally finite, the converse in an open problem. We show that if $C^*(G)$ has real rank zero, then all normal subgroups of $G$ that are elementary amenable and have finite Hirsch length must be locally finite.

Abstract:Abstract Let A be a separable (not necessarily unital) simple $C^*$ -algebra with strict comparison. We show that if A has tracial approximate oscillation zero, then A has stable rank one and the canonical map $\Gamma $ from the Cuntz semigroup of A to the corresponding lower-semicontinuous affine function space is surjective. The converse also holds. As a by-product, we find that a separable simple $C^*$ -algebra which has almost stable rank one must have stable rank one, provided it has strict comparison and the canonical map $\Gamma $ is surjective.

Abstract:We show that separable, simple, unital C*-algebras with finite decomposition rank absorb the Jiang-Su algebra Z tensorially. This has a number of consequences for Elliott's program to classify nuclear C*-algebras by their K-theory data. In particular, it completes the classification of C*-algebras associated to uniquely ergodic, smooth, minimal dynamical systems by their ordered K-groups.

Abstract:In this article, we prove $K$-stability for a family of $C^*$-algebras, which are generated by a finite set of unitaries and isometries satisfying twisted commutation relations. This family includes the $C^*$-algebra of doubly non-commuting isometries and free twist of isometries. Next, we consider the $C^*$-algebra $A_{\mathcal{V}}$ generated by an $n$-tuple of $\mathcal{U}$-twisted isometries $\mathcal{V}$ with respect to a fixed $n\choose 2$-tuple $\mathcal{U}=\{U_{ij}:1\leq i<j \leq n\}$ of commuting unitaries (see \cite{NarJaySur-2022aa}). Under the assumption that the spectrum of the commutative $C^*$-algebra generated by $(\{U_{ij}:1\leq i<j \leq n\})$ does not contain any element of finite order in the torus group $\bbbt^{n\choose 2}$, we show that $A_{\mathcal{V}}$ is $K$-stable. Finally, we prove the same result for the $C^*$-algebra generated by a tuple of free $\mathcal{U}$-twisted isometries.

Abstract:The uncovering of new structure on the Cuntz semigroup of a C*-algebra of stable rank one leads to several applications: We answer affirmatively, for the class of stable rank one C*-algebras, a conjecture by Blackadar and Handelman on dimension functions, the Global Glimm Halving problem, and the problem of realizing functions on the cone of 2-quasitraces as ranks of Cuntz semigroup elements. We also gain new insights into the comparability properties of positive elements in C*-algebras of stable rank one.

Abstract:Given a closed ideal $I$ in a C*-algebra $A$, we develop techniques to bound the real rank of $A$ in terms of the real ranks of $I$ and $A/I$. Building on work of Brown, Lin and Zhang, we obtain complete solutions if $I$ belongs to any of the following classes: (1) C*-algebras with real rank zero, stable rank one and vanishing $K_1$-group; (2) simple, purely infinite C*-algebras; (3) simple, $\mathcal{Z}$-stable C*-algebras with real rank zero; (4) separable, stable C*-algebras with an approximate unit of projections and the Corona Factorization Property.

Abstract:A Banach space characterization of simple real or complex $C^*$-algebras is given which even characterizes the underlying field. As an application, it is shown that if $\mathfrak A_1$ and $\mathfrak A_2$ are Birkhoff-James isomorphic simple $C^*$-algebras over the fields $\mathbb F_1$ and $\mathbb F_2$, respectively and if $\mathfrak A_1$ is finite-dimensional with dimension greater than one, then $\mathbb F_1=\mathbb F_2$ and $\mathfrak A_1$ and $\mathfrak A_2$ are (isometrically) $\ast$-isomorphic $C^*$-algebras.
