Abstract:Oxidative stress results from an imbalance between the generation of oxygen derived radicals and the organism's an- tioxidant potential.High reactivity of free radicals determines chemical changes in cellular components,leading to lipid peroxidation. There are increasing evidences that production of ROS and disturbed capacity of antioxidant defense system in diabetics.Antioxidants are able to depress the level of oxidative stress and restore the antioxidant system.Many antioxidants have been used for in diabetes stud- ies.In this paper,the progress of antioxidants in the study and therapyt of diabetes are reviewed.
