Abstract:In this paper, we provide a symmetric formula and a duality formula relating multiple zeta values and zeta-star values. We find that the summation ∑a+b=r−1(−1)aζ★(a+2,{2}p−1)ζ★({1}b+1,{2}q) equals ζ★({2}p,{1}r,{2}q)+(−1)r+1ζ★({2}q,r+2,{2}p−1). With the help of this equation and Zagier's ζ★({2}p,3,{2}q) formula, we can easily determine ζ★({2}p,1,{2}q) and several interesting expressions.

Dimension formulas for modular form spaces of rational weights, the classification of eta-quotient characters and an extension of Martin's theorem

Abstract:We give an explicit formula for dimensions of spaces of rational-weight modular forms whose multiplier systems are induced by eta-quotients of fractional exponents. As the first application, we give series expressions of Fourier coefficients of the $n$-th root of certain infinite $q$-products. As the second application, we extend Yves Martin's list of multiplicative holomorphic eta-quotients of integral weights by first extending the meaning of multiplicativity, then identifying one-dimensional spaces, and finally applying Wohlfahrt's extension of Hecke operators. A table containing $2277$ of such eta-quotients is presented. As a related result, we completely classify the multiplier systems induced by eta-quotients of integral exponents. For instance, there are totally $384$ such multiplier systems on $\Gamma_0(4)$ for any fixed weight. We also provide SageMath programs on checking the theorems and generating the tables.

Abstract:The 1-3-5 conjecture of Z.-W. Sun states that any $n\in\mathbb N=\{0,1,2,\ldots\}$ can be written as $x^2+y^2+z^2+w^2$ with $w,x,y,z\in\mathbb N$ such that $x+3y+5z$ is a square. In this paper, via the theory of ternary quadratic forms and related modular forms, we study the integer version of the 1-3-5 conjecture and related weighted sums of four squares with certain linear restrictions. Here are two typical results in this paper: (i) There is a finite set $A$ of positive integers such that any sufficiently large integer not in the set $\{16^ka:\ a\in A,\ k\in\mathbb N\}$ can be written as $x^2+y^2+z^2+w^2$ with $x,y,z,w\in\mathbb Z$ and $x+3y+5z\in\{4^k:\ k\in\mathbb N\}$. (ii) Any positive integer can be written as $x^2+y^2+z^2+2w^2$ with $x,y,z,w\in\mathbb Z$ and $x+y+2z+2w=1$. Also, any sufficiently large integer can be written as $x^2+y^2+z^2+2w^2$ with $x,y,z,w\in\mathbb Z$ and $x+2y+3z=1$.
Values and derivative values at nonpositive integers of generalized multiple Hurwitz zeta functions, applications to Witten zeta functions

Abstract:We aim to provide explicit formulas for values and derivative values along a direction of some generalized Hurwitz multizeta functions at nonpositive integers. We will express these values in terms of Bernoulli polynomials, and the derivative values in terms of Bernoulli polynomials, of derivative values at nonpositive integers of the Hurwitz zeta function, and of derivative values at nonpositive integers of some generalized Barnes zeta functions. Then we will apply these formulas in order to compute the values and the derivative values at $s=0$ of the Witten zeta functions $\zeta_{\mathfrak{g}_2}$ and $\zeta_{\mathfrak{so}(5)}$. As an application, we will find an explicit asymptotic formula for the number of representations of dimension $n$ of the exceptional Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_2$ using a generalized Meinardus-type theorem proved by Bridges, Brindle, Bringmann, and Franke.

Higher level $q$-multiple zeta values with applications to quasimodular forms and partitions

Abstract:In recent years, the generalized sum-of-divisor functions of MacMahon have been unified into the algebraic framework of $q$-multiple zeta values. In particular, these results link partition theory, quasimodular forms, $q$-multiple zeta values, and quasi-shuffle algebras. In this paper, we complete this idea of unification for higher levels, demonstrating that any quasimodular form of weight $k \geq 2$ and level $N$ may be expressed in terms of the $q$-multiple zeta values of level $N$ studied algebraically by Yuan and Zhao. We also give results restricted to $q$-multiple zeta values with integer coefficients, and we construct completely additive generating sets for spaces of quasimodular forms and for quasimodular forms with integer coefficients. We also provide a variety of computational examples from number-theoretic perspectives that suggest many new applications of the algebraic structure of $q$-multiple zeta values to quasimodular forms and partitions.

Abstract:In this paper we study representations of natural numbers by weighted sums of powers and pose some new conjectures in this direction.For example,we show that there are essentially only 9 polynomials of the form awh + bxi + cyj + dzk with a,b,c,d positive integers,h,i,j,k ∈ {2,3,4,...} and at most one of h,i,j,k equal to two,for which it seems that each n ∈ N ={0,1,2,...} can be written as awh+bxi+cyj+dzk with w,x,y,z ∈ N.One of our conjectures states that {f(w,x,y,z):w,x,y,z ∈ N} =N whenever f(w,x,y,z) is among the 9 polynomials w2 + x3 + 2y3 + cz3 (c =3,4,5,6),w2 + x3 + 2y3 + dz4 (d =1,3,6),2w2 + x3 + 4y3 + z4 and w2 + x3 + y4 + 2z4.We also conjecture that any integer n ＞ 1 can be written as x4 + y3 + z2 + 2k with x,y,z ∈ N and k ∈ {1,2,3,...}.
Period polynomial relations between formal double zeta values of odd weight

Abstract:For odd $k$, we give a formula for the relations between double zeta values $\zeta(r,k-r)$ with $r$ even. This formula provides a connection with the space of cusp forms on $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. This is the odd weight analogue of a result by Gangl, Kaneko and Zagier. We also provide an answer of a question asked by Zagier about the left kernel of some matrix. Although the restricted sum statement fails in the odd weight case, we provide an asymptotical statement that replaces it. Our statement works more generally for restricted sums with any congruence condition on the first entry of the double zeta value.

Abstract:In recent years, a variety of variants of multiple zeta values (MZVs) have been defined and studied. One way to produce these variants is to restrict the indices in the definition of MZVs to some fixed parity pattern, which include Hoffman's multiple $t$-values, Kaneko and Tsumura's multiple $T$-values, and Xu and the author's multiple $S$-values. We have also considered the so-called multiple mixed values by allowing all possible parity patterns and studied a few important relations among these values. In this paper, we will turn to their finite analogs and their symmetric forms, motivated by a deep conjecture of Kaneko and Zagier which relates the finite MZVs and symmetric MZVs, and a generalized version of this conjecture by the author to the Euler sum (i.e., level two) setting. We will present a few important relations among these values such as the stuffle, reversal, and linear shuffle relations. We will also compute explicitly the (conjecturally smallest) generating set in weight one and two cases. In the appendix we tabulate some dimension computation for various sub-spaces of the finite multiple mixed values and propose a conjecture.

In this paper, we study these two zeta functions and related arithmetical functions. We show that [Formula: see text] which is similar to the known identity [Formula: see text] equivalent to the Prime Number Theorem. Abstract:The sum formula is a basic identity of multiple zeta values that expresses a Riemann zeta value as a homogeneous sum of multiple zeta values of a given dimension. This formula was already known to Euler in the dimension two case, conjectured in the early 1990s for higher dimensions and then proved by Granville and Zagier independently. Recently a weighted form of Euler's formula was obtained by Ohno and Zudilin. We generalize it to a weighted sum formula for multiple zeta values of all dimensions.

Abstract:This is an expanded version. We study relations among special values of zeta functions, invariants of toric varieties, and generalized Dedekind sums. In particular, we use invariants arising in the Todd class of a toric variety to give a new explicit formula for the values of the zeta function of a real quadratic field at nonpositive integers. We also express these invariants in terms of the generalized Dedekind sums studied previously by several authors. The paper includes conceptual proofs of the above mentioned relations and explicit computations of the various zeta values and Dedekind sums involved.

Abstract:We prove sharp bounds on the virtual degrees introduced by Larsen and Shalev. This leads to improved bounds on character of symmetric groups. We then sharpen bounds of Liebeck and Shalev concerning the Witten zeta function. Abstract:In this paper, we will study finite multiple $T$-values (MTVs) and their alternating versions, which are level two and level four variations of finite multiple zeta values, respectively. We will first provide some structural results for level two finite multiple zeta values (i.e., finite Euler sums) for small weights, guided by the author's previous conjecture that the finite Euler sum space of weight, $w$, is isomorphic to a quotient Euler sum space of weight, $w$. Then, by utilizing some well-known properties of the classical alternating MTVs, we will derive a few important $\Q$-linear relations among the finite alternating MTVs, including the reversal, linear shuffle, and sum relations. We then compute the upper bound for the dimension of the $\Q$-span of finite (alternating) MTVs for some small weights by rigorously using the newly discovered relations, numerically aided by computers.

Abstract:We perform a further investigation for the multiple zeta values and their variations and generalizations in this paper. By making use of the method of the generating functions and some connections between the higher-order trigonometric functions and the Lerch zeta function, we explicitly evaluate some weighted sums of the multiple zeta, Hurwitz zeta, and alternating multiple zeta values in terms of the Bernoulli and Euler polynomials and numbers. It turns out that various known results are deduced as special cases.

Abstract:We give a conditional lower bound on the number of non-trivial simple zeros for the Dedekind zeta function $\zeta_{K}(s)$, where $K$ is a quadratic number field. The conditional result is given by assuming a Lindelöf on average (in the $L^{6}$ sense) for both $\zeta(s)$ and $L(s,\chi)$, which can be seen as a stronger version of Conrey-Gonek-Ghosh's \cite{c} conditional result. This improves upon the work of Wu and Zhao \cite{Zhao}, who had a similar result.
