Abstract:A concise and efficient synthetic approach was developed for the synthesis of functionalized chromeno[4,3-b]pyrrol-4(1H)-ones via a one-pot, three-component reaction of 4-aminocoumarin, arylglyoxal monohydrates, and aromatic amines promoted by KHSO4 in toluene under reflux condition. The attractive features of this protocol are operational simplicity, short reaction time, easy purification of products and good to excellent yields.

Abstract:A three-component reaction of one molecule of imine and two molecules of alkynoates is realized with the catalysis of Cu(I)–Fe(III) in a sequential manner to allow the direct synthesis of functionalized pyrroles, during which, one C–N bond and two C–C bonds are formed with high atom economy. This method benefits from easily available starting materials, low-cost catalysts, and convenient operations.

Abstract:A new, operationally simple one-pot method has been developed for the regioselective synthesis of a series of novel 4-olefinated dihydropyridines bearing various functional groups from the reaction of pyridine, acylacetamides, and sulfuryl chlorides under mild conditions. In this multicomponent process, subsequent the activation of pyridine by sulfuryl chloride/nucleophilic addition of acylacetonitrile formed in situ/enolization/sulfonylation leads to the formation of final products.

Abstract:A tunable copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC)-initiated multicomponent reaction strategy for the construction of 3-functionalized indolin-2-ones is reported. Upon controlling the ring opening of four-membered O-heterocyclic intermediates, this unique method enables the divergent derivatization of N-protected isatins to give three-component (3-CR) and four-component (4-CR) adducts, respectively.

Abstract:A Cu-catalyzed tandem synthesis of azole-fused pyrimido[1,2-c]quinazolines and imidazo[1,2-c]quinazolines has been developed. Abstract:A selective copper(I)-catalyzed benzylic C(sp3)–H geminal difunctionalization reaction of a benzylic-type sp3 carbon was developed. This novel strategy allowed simultaneous introduction of amide and hydroxyl group in a highly selective and efficient way via successive oxidative intramolecular amidation and hydroxylation. This method was also applied to the synthesis of 3-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-b]quinoxalinones from readily available 3-methyl-N-substituted quinoxaline-2-carboxamides in moderate to good yields. The five-membered cyclic hemiaminal moiety of the pyrrolo[3,4-b]quinoxalinones can serve as an intermediates for subsequent transformations into other useful functional groups.

Abstract:A novel, efficient, and practical method for the synthesis of imidazopyridine derivatives has been developed through the copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative CH functionalization of substituted pyridines with N-(alkylidene)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-amines. The procedure occurs by cleavage of the NN bond in the N-(alkylidene)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-amines and activation of an aryl CH bond in the substituted pyridines. This is the first example of the preparation of imidazopyridine derivatives by using pyridines as the substrates by transition-metal-catalyzed CH functionalization. This method should provide a novel and efficient strategy for the synthesis of other nitrogen heterocycles.

Abstract:The first copper-catalyzed three-component annulation of α,β-unsaturated ketoximes, 1,3-dicarbonyls and paraformaldehyde has been documented. This novel strategy achieved the two C−C bonds cleavage of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds directly as a single-carbon synthon and provided a new and highly efficient method for the synthesis of 2,3-disubstituted pyrroles in moderate to good yields with broad functional group compatibility.

Abstract:Acrylamidines were synthesized via the copper-catalyzed three-component reaction of propargyl acetates, sulfonyl azides and amines, which are readily accessible materials. The synthesized N,N'- bis(aryl) amidines could be converted into 2-styrylbenzoimidazoles by iodobenzene-catalyzed oxidative C-H amination using m-CPBA as a terminal oxidant.

Abstract:A copper-mediated [3 + 2] cyclization of CF(3)-imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides and terminal alkynes has been demonstrated. This work provides a practical approach for assembling 5-trifluoromethylpyrroles with the merits of a broad substrate scope, good functional tolerance, and mild reaction conditions. Control experiments and DFT studies indicate that this reaction may involve the addition of π-bonds of terminal alkynes by copper-carbene radicals and hydrogen migration.

Abstract:A novel and convenient transformation for the regiospecific synthesis of functionalized imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine aldehydes/ketones and 3-vinyl imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines has been developed via copper(I)- and palladium(II)-catalyzed cyclization. The one-pot reaction proceeds smoothly with commercially available catalysts and affords the products in moderate to good yields. It represents an efficient approach for the formation of C-N, C═O, and C═C bonds under mild conditions.

Abstract:A domino three-component reaction of 2(2',3'-allenyl)acylacetates with aryl or alkenyl halides and aryl- or benzylamines afforded 4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole derivatives highly chemo-and regioselectively in one pot through imine formation/imine-enamine tautomerization under the catalysis of palladium(0) and toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate. A high diastereoselectivity was observed.
