Abstract:The Confucian culture has long been playing an important role in governing the ancient Chinese clans .On the one hand , the revision of tradition , motto , genealogical tree and rules of a family has generally been influenced by Confucian classics ;on the other hand ,thanks to the long﹣term infiltration in the clan life ,Confucianism has become more sophisticated and more popular among the people .The"Five Routines"and "Ten Virtues"of Family Yu in the north of the Yangtze River has directly originated from Confucianism .Its newly revised "ZuGui Article 12",a total of 72 words ,is of obvious characteristics of Confucianism ,giving expressions to rich kindheartedness and justice .In addition ,the seniority and system of Family Yu's Gengdu Hall is more closely connected with pursuits of Confucian ,not only including Confucian moral theory , such as kindheartedness and justice , loyalty and filial piety , integrity and harmony as well as tolerance and respect ,but also laying emphasis on political and military achievements and family and national peace as well ,which enjoys strong and broad influences .Therefore ,it has become a typical case of the social governance of rural areas in Huaian ,Jiangsu Province being promoted by the traditional culture .
