Abstract:As for the construction of manhood,the Avatar,which amazed the world of movie and made a new myth of box office,surely has not broken the long-lasting male narrative form.However,just under such traditional male narrative,Avatar successfully created a brand-new male figure for the audience.This male figure transcended many restrictions asserted by the traditional notion about gender role upon manhood,and abandoned the elements such as conquering,violence,and the desire to control,and connected the construction of Avatar's manhood with the construction of harmonious relationships between male and female,nature and human beings,and harmonious racial relationships,demonstrating a new ethical concern and a type of humanitarian spirit.
