Abstract:The influence of boron and exogenous polyamines on the growth, membrane permeability, and the activity of protective enzymes in rapeseed at seedling stage were studied under the condition of liquid culture.Under the stress of boron deficiency, the taproot length, plant height, the dry weight of roots and shoots of rapeseed decreased significantly, the membrane permeability of leaves increased, and the activity of protective enzymes such as superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) in leaves were restrained. The activity of SOD and CAT in rapeseed leaves was enhanced, the stability of cell membrane was improved by exogenous putrescine(Put) and spermidine(Spd),especially in the condition of boron deficiency. Moreover, the effect of Spd exceeded Put.This suggests that exogenous polyamines could alleviate the decrease of the activity of protective enzymes and the accumulation of free radicals caused by boron deficiency, thus remain membrane function integrity.
