Abstract:Hirota bilinear method is proposed to directly construct periodic wave solutions in terms of Riemann theta functions for nonlinear equations. The asymptotic property of periodic waves are analyzed in detail. It is shown that well-known soliton solutions can be reduced from the periodic wave solutions.

Abstract:Based on a Riemann theta function and Hirota's bilinear form, a lucid and straightforward way is presented to explicitly construct double periodic wave solutions for both nonlinear differential and difference equations. Once such a equation is written in a bilinear form, its periodic wave solutions can be directly obtained by using an unified theta function formula. The relations between the periodic wave solutions and soliton solutions are rigorously established. The efficiency of our proposed method can be demonstrated on a class variety of nonlinear equations such as those considered in this paper, shall water wave equation, (2+1)-dimensional Bogoyavlenskii-Schiff equation and differential-difference KdV equation.

Abstract:We introduce how to obtain the bilinear form and the exact periodic wave solutions of a class of (2 + 1)-dimensional nonlinear integrable differential equations directly and quickly with the help of the generalized D-p-operators, binary Bell polynomials, and a general Riemann theta function in terms of the Hirota method. As applications, we solve the periodic wave solution of BLMP equation and it can be reduced to soliton solution via asymptotic analysis when the value of p is 5.

Abstract:A linear superposition principle of exponential traveling waves is analyzed for Hirota bilinear equations, with an aim to construct a specific sub-class of N-soliton solutions formed by linear combinations of exponential traveling waves. Applications are made for the 3+1 dimensional KP, Jimbo–Miwa and BKP equations, thereby presenting their particular N-wave solutions. An opposite question is also raised and discussed about generating Hirota bilinear equations possessing the indicated N-wave solutions, and a few illustrative examples are presented, together with an algorithm using weights.

Abstract:Bilinearization of a given nonlinear partial differential equation is very important not only to find soliton solutions but also to obtain other solutions such as the complexitons, positons, negatons, and lump solutions. In this work we study the bilinearization of nonlinear partial differential equations in $(2+1)$-dimensions. We write the most general sixth order Hirota bilinear form in $(2+1)$-dimensions and give the associated nonlinear partial differential equations for each monomial of the product of the Hirota operators $D_{x}$, $D_{y}$, and $D_{t}$. The nonlinear partial differential equations corresponding to the sixth order Hirota bilinear equations are in general nonlocal. Among all these we give the most general sixth order Hirota bilinear equation whose nonlinear partial differential equation is local which contains 12 arbitrary constants. Some special cases of this equation are the KdV, KP, KP-fifth order KdV, and Ma-Hua equations. We also obtain a nonlocal nonlinear partial differential equation whose Hirota form contains all possible triple products of $D_{x}$, $D_{y}$, and $D_{t}$. We give one- and two-soliton solutions, lump solutions with one, two, and three functions, and hybrid solutions of local and nonlocal $(2+1)$-dimensional equations. We proposed also solutions of these equations depending on dynamical variables.

Abstract:In this paper, a new algebraic method with symbolic computation is presented to uniformly construct a series of exact solutions for general nonlinear equations. Compared with most existing tanh methods, the proposed method not only gives new and more general solutions, but also provides a guideline to classify the various types of the solutions according to the values of some parameters. For illustration, we apply the proposed method to solve a new generalized Hirota–Satsuma coupled system and explicitly construct a series of exact solutions which include the soliton solutions and elliptic doubly periodic solutions as special cases. In addition, the links among our proposed method, the tanh method and the extended method are also clarified generally.

Abstract:Interaction solutions between lump and soliton are analytical exact solutions to nonlinear partial differential equations. The explicit expressions of the interaction solutions are of value for analysis of the interacting mechanism. We analyze the one-lump-multi-stripe and one-lump-multi-soliton solutions to nonlinear partial differential equations via Hirota bilinear forms. The one-lump-multi-stripe solutions are generated from the combined solution of quadratic functions and <i>N</i> exponential functions, while the one-lump-multi-soliton solutions from the combined solution of quadratic functions and <i>N</i> hyperbolic cosine functions. Within the context of the derivation of the lump solution and soliton solution, necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for the two types of interaction solutions, respectively, based on the combined solutions to the associated bilinear equations. Applications are made for a (2+1)-dimensional generalized KdV equation, the (2+1)-dimensional NNV system and the (2+1)-dimensional Ito equation.

Abstract:Based on the Riemann theta function, the Hirota bilinear method is extended to directly construct periodic wave solutions of KdV-Sawada-Kotera equation. The relations among various data related to the Riemann theta functions are explicitly given by the Fourier series representation. The asymptotic property of the periodic wave solution of the KdV-Sawada-Kotera equation is analyzed in detail. It is shown that well-known soliton solution given by Hirota can be reduced from the periodic wave solution.

Abstract:Nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equations are among the important models of nonlocal integrable systems. This paper aims to present a general formula for arbitrary-order breather solutions to multi-component nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equations by using the Hirota bilinear method. In particular, abundant wave solutions of two- and three-component nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equations, including periodic and mixed-wave solutions, are obtained by taking appropriate values for the involved parameters in the general solution formula. Moreover, diverse wave structures of the resulting breather and periodic wave solutions with different parameters are discussed in detail.

Abstract:A series of new soliton solutions is presented for the inhomogeneous variable coefficient Hirota equation by using the Riemann Hilbert method and transformation relationship. Firstly, through a standard dressing procedure, the N-soliton matrix associated with the simple zeros in the Riemann Hilbert problem for the Hirota equation is constructed. Then the N-soliton matrix of the inhomogeneous variable coefficient Hirota equation can be obtained by a special relationship transformation from the N-soliton matrix of the Hirota equation. Next, using the generalized Darboux transformation, the high-order soliton solutions corresponding to the elementary high-order zeros in the Riemann Hilbert problem for the Hirota equation can be derived. Similarly, employing the relationship transformation mentioned above can lead to the high-order soliton solutions of the inhomogeneous variable coefficient Hirota equation. In addition, the collision dynamics of Hirota and inhomogeneous variable coefficient Hirota equations are analyzed; the asymptotic behaviors for multi-solitons and long-term asymptotic estimates for the high-order one-soliton of the Hirota equation are concretely calculated. Most notably, by analyzing the dynamics of the multi-solitons and high-order solitons of the inhomogeneous variable coefficient Hirota equation, we discover numerous new waveforms such as heart-shaped periodic wave solutions, O-shaped periodic wave solutions etc. that have never been reported before, which are crucial in theory and practice.

Abstract:Based on the Riemann theta function, the Hirota bilinear method is extended to directly construct a kind of explicit quasi-periodic solution of the Toda lattice equation. The asymptotic property of the quasi-periodic solution is analyzed in detail. It is of interest to see that the well-known soliton solution can be obtained as a limit of the quasi-periodic solution.

Abstract:The -periodic wave solvability problem for the supersymmetric Sawada-Kotera-Ramani equation is considered by combining the Hirota's bilinear method and the super Riemann theta function. The constraint equations and unknown parameters are redefined, and the numerical calculation process of the -periodic wave solutions are derived. It has been verified that under some certain conditions, the asymptotic relations between -periodic wave solutions and -soliton solutions can be established. Some numerical solutions of three-periodic wave are presented. Under the influence of the Grassmann variable, the three-periodic wave solutions will generate an influence band in the middle region, and the amplitude becomes bigger as the distance from the influence band increases.

Abstract:In this paper, we derive a class of doubly periodic standing wave solutions for a coupled Higgs field equation by employing the Hirota bilinear method and theta function identities. Such solutions are expressed in terms of theta functions with variable separation form. Moreover, it is shown that these solutions can be converted into Jacobi elliptic function representations, and their long‐wave limit yields collision of dark solitons. In comparing with known solutions of the canonical evolution equation, three new aspects will be developed in this paper. First, the periods in the spatial and temporal directions, measured in terms of the theta function parameters τ and τ1, are independent of each other, quite unlike most similar solutions found earlier in the literature. Second, the doubly periodic wave solutions possess two families of the local maxima, whose locations and types are then examined in detail. Third, we obtain new doubly periodic standing wave solutions for the Davey–Stewartson equation through its similarity transformation to the coupled Higgs field equation.

Abstract:By using the power-exponential function method and the extended hyperbolic auxiliary equation method, we present the explicit solutions of the subsidiary elliptic-like equation. With the aid of the subsidiary elliptic-like equation and a simple transformation, we obtain the exact solutions of Hirota equation which include bright solitary wave, dark solitary wave, bell profile solitary wave solutions and Jacobian elliptic function solutions. Some of these solutions are found for the first time, which may be useful for depicting nonlinear physical phenomena. This approach can also be applied to solve the other nonlinear partial differential equations.

Abstract:Based on a multi-dimensional Riemann theta function, the Hirota bilinear method is extended to explicitly construct multi-periodic (quasi-periodic) wave solutions for the asymmetrical Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov equation. Among these periodic waves, two-periodic waves are a direct generalization of well-known cnoidal waves; their surface pattern is two dimensional. The main physical result is the description of the behavior of nonlinear waves in shallow water. A limiting procedure is presented to analyze asymptotic properties of the two-periodic waves in details. Relations between the periodic wave solutions and the well-known soliton solutions are established. It is rigorously shown that the periodic wave solutions tend to the soliton solutions under a 'small amplitude' limit.

Abstract:In this paper, we study resonant solitary wave and resonant periodic wave solutions of the Kudryashov-Sinelshchikov equation. Based on the Hirota bilinear form, we obtain multi-solitary wave solutions. Particularly, we find fusional solitary wave solution where N-solitary waves interact with each other to fuse into one solitary wave and fusional periodic wave solution where two parallel or intersecting periodic waves interact with each other to fuse into one periodic wave. The asymptotic properties and the interactional plots of the solutions are presented.

Abstract:The nonlinear Hirota–Satsuma–Ito (HSI) equation is an important -dimensional model arising in fluid dynamics, plasmas, and other domains. In this study, the Hirota bilinear method is employed to derive a set of innovative soliton interaction solutions within the framework of the HSI system. Second-order solitons are the focus of our investigation, leading to the identification of four distinct solution types through a systematic analysis of their respective phases. These solutions are characterized by a rich spectrum of collision dynamics, encompassing phenomena, such as fusion, fission, and the intersection of trajectories. A comprehensive characterization of critical properties, including asymptotic forms, velocities, amplitudes, and interaction region lengths, is carried out. For third-order cases, seven hybrid soliton solutions are constructed, and their properties are elucidated. The results offer new analytical insights into the intricate resonant soliton behaviors permitted by the HSI system. The understanding of multidimensional soliton interactions carries significant implications spanning from optics to Bose–Einstein condensates. The Hirota bilinear technique demonstrates strong capabilities in uncovering novel soliton features in complex nonlinear wave models. Extending these methods promises additional discoveries at the intersection of nonlinear fluid dynamics, integrable systems, and soliton theory.
