Recent Advances in the Photoelectrochromic Cell

Abstract:A photoelectrochromic cell is a particularly advantageous combination of the dye-sensitized solar cell and an electrochromic electrode. In contrast to the electrochormic devices, the energy for coloring is provide by sunlight so that the need for expensive electrical wirings and power can been obviated, therefore it can also be seen as a self-powered window. The transmittance spectra of sunlight can be smartly controlled to pass through this device so that energy savings and decoration effect for buildings are realized. The recent developments and future prospects of the photoelectrochromic cell are discussed in this paper.
