Translocation of NF-κB p65 may be correlated with the invasion and metastasis of salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To examine the expression level of NF-κB p65 protein and its translocation in the tissues of salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma and to analyze their relationship to the invasion and metastasis of ACC.Methods The p65 protein expression was examined in 58 patients with adenoid cystic carcinomas of salivary gland by immunohistochemical staining.The relationship between p65 protein and ACC metastasis and invasion was analyzed.The association between p65 expression levels and the clinicopathological parameters were also examined.Results There was no significant difference of p65 positive rate between the non-metastatic group and the metastatic group.But the p65 nuclear positive rate was higher in the metastatic group than in the non-metastatic group,and the p65 nuclear expression level was related to the ACC invasion.Conclusion NF-κB signal pathway may play an important role in invasion and metastasis of adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary gland.
