Promoted PCA and Its Application in Human Face Recognition

Abstract:Promoted PCA,a human face recognition technique based on PCA,is presented in this paper.Firstly,the original training set is divided into some sub-sets.Second the well-known PCA method is directly used to the sub-sets obtained corresponding transformed matrixes.Through these matrixes,training set and testing set are mapped in feature space,doing identifica tion.compared with traditional PCA,this approach improves accuracy of recognition at the price of higher dimension.To test pro moted PCA and to evaluate its performance,a series of experiments are performed on a human face image databases:Feret human face databases.The experimental results indicate that the performance of promoted PCA is obviously superior to that of traditional PCA.The recognition rate is improved.
