Effect of Lycopene on Antioxidative Enzyme in SL-7 Cells

Abstract:Objcetive To observe the effect of lycopene(LP) alone or in combination with vitamin E on antioxidant enzyme in SL-7 cells.Methods When SL-7 cells were in logarithmic period,SL-7 cells with different doses of lycopene and vitamin E were added. After 24 hours, H_2O_2 was added, and the cells were incubated for one hour. Then the activities of SOD and GSH-Px were detected.Results Compared to the group of H_2O_2,the activities of SOD,GSH-Px were significantly increased in the group of H_2O_2+lycopene at dose of 0.5 μmol/L,1 μmol/L,5 μmol/L. No obvious increase was observed in the group of 10 μmol/L lycopene.Vitamin E enhanced the antioxidant effect of lycopene.Conclusions The activities of SOD,GSH-Px can be increased by lycopene at dose of 0.5 μmol/L,1 μmol/L,5 μmol/L,and this effect disappears at lycopene dose of 10 μmol/L. Vitamin E can enhance the antioxidant effect of lycopene.
