Parameter analysis on dynamic characteristics of monolayer cable net for point-supported glass facade

Abstract:Monolayer cable net system for point-supported glass facade is a new style of flexible supporting system. It is favored by architectures with the virtue of light-weight, elegant appearance and excellent transparency. However, there are few researches on this kind of structure, especially on its dynamic characteristics. In this paper, equilibrium equations of cable net are deduced from the theory of minimal potential energy. The self-vibration equations of frequency are derived at the same time. A program in FORTRAN language is developed to carry on parameter analysis on dynamic characteristics of cable net. Parameters such as pretension in cables,cable area,glass thickness,grid size and number,and normal load,are investigated herein. It is shown that frequencies of cable net increase with the increasing of pretension, cable areas, and normal loads,while decrease with the increase of the other parameters. Generally speaking, low frequencies obviously vary milder than higher ones, which demonstrates that high-order frequencies is more sensitive to influence factors than low ones. What's more, the regressive formula for the fundamental frequency is obtained by numerical methods. The comparison of the results by it with that of classic ones shows that this formula is precise enough for engineering practices.
