Abstract:In order to solve the identification problem for nonlinear systems,a new neural-fuzzy system is proposed,and its universal approximation is proved by using the differential law of mean and Weierstrass theory.An application example of modeling and predicting on oilfield wells is also given.

Abstract:Abstract A fuzzy system has been shown capable of arbitrarily approximating any nonlinear function, and has been successfully applied to system modeling together with an RBF network used for compensation. B-spline basis functions have many desirable numerical properties and as such is used as membership functions of fuzzy system in this paper. The training algorithm is very simple since the network is linear in weights. RBF nets are local in nature, so they are suitable to compensate local errors two simulated examples are also given to illustrate the approaches

Abstract:This article presents a neural-network-based fuzzy logic control (NN-FLC) system. The NN-FLC model has the learning capabilities for constructing membership functions and extracting fuzzy rules from training examples. Both unsupervised and supervised training algorithms are used to find the membership functions of the FLC. Competitive learning algorithms are employed to evaluate fuzzy logic rules. Matlab programs using both neural and fuzzy toolboxes are developed to implement the NN-FLC model. Computer simulations of the inverted pendulum controlled by NN-FLC system were conducted to illustrate the self-learning ability of the network. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Abstract:This paper proposes a novel fuzzy identification approach based on an updated version of pi-sigma neural network. The proposed method has the following characteristics: 1) The consequence function of each fuzzy rule can be a nonlinear function, which makes it capable to deal with the nonlinear systems more efficiently. 2) Not only each parameter of the consequence functions but also the membership function of each fuzzy subset can be modified easily online. In this way, the fuzzy identification algorithm is greatly simplified and therefore is suitable for real-time applications. Simulation results show that the new method is effective in modeling and controlling of a large class of complex systems.< >

Abstract:A novel fuzzy identification approach of complex systems is proposed based on an updated version of pi-sigma neural network. By taking advantage of the learning and nonlinear mapping abilities of the neural networks, the proposed method has the following characteristics. The consequence function of each fuzzy rule can be a nonlinear function, which makes it capable to deal with the nonlinear sytems more efficiently. Each parameter of the consequence functions is convenient to be adjusted on-line so that automatic rule modification can be realized. The membership function of each fuzzy subset can be modified easily on-line. In this way, the cumbersome task to form fuzzy rules from a set of given data and to prescribe an appropriate membership function for each premise variable can be avoided. Examples of fuzzy modelling in weather forecast, burden optimization and fuzzy control system design show that our algorithm is effective in quite wide fields. We also apply our scheme to the decoupling control of a rigid robot manipulator. With the help of the self-organizing fuzzy mechanism, the controller acquires a satisfying performance under large parameter uncertainties.

Abstract:In this paper, a simple but effective approach to the identification of fuzzy-rule based models for complex systems with input-output data is presented. The main features of the method are: a) in the stage of input identification, we neither estimate the parameters of the fuzzy model nor determine the number of the fuzzy rules. Compared with other methods, the presented approach has the advantages of simplicity, flexibility, and reliability. b) In order to achieve the desired identification accuracy with fewer rules, a special fuzzy-neural network (FNN) with a general membership function is used for modeling of systems. Since fuzzy c-means (FCM) method is utilized to determine the proper structure of the FNN and to set the initial weights in advance, the network can be trained rapidly. Two examples of modeling are shown in this paper.

Abstract:A new fuzzy on-line identification algorithm for a nonlinear dynamic system is presented. This method combines the conventional on-line identification with fuzzy logic system. The nonlinear system is approximated by a set of fuzzy rules that describe the local linear dynamic in each subspace formed by fuzzifying the input and output space. The fuzzy space of input variables is partitioned by means of diagonal ANFIS method, the consequent parameters of the fuzzy rules are identified by means of weighted recursive least squares algorithm (WRLSA). The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method is practical and efficient.

Abstract:For a class of nonlinear systems that the entire operation region can be divided into several operating regions and the property of each subsystem is linear, a modified fuzzy neural network (FNN) is designed as identifier. The prior knowledge of the system is considered adequately in the FNN model. The local model network of FNN is used to approximate the subsystem of each zone according to ARMAX model. The output of FNN model is the interpolation of local model network outputs with the output of the fuzzy decision-making layer. A new cost function is used when training FNN model. It can reduce over-fit of FNN model.

Abstract:This paper presents a new approach to fault disgnosis based on modular fuzzy neural network for nonlinear systems.Firstly,the measuring space has been divided into several subspacos by using fuzzy e-means clustering.Secondly,ac- cording to the fuzzy rule's requirement,the subspaces have been fitted by local BP network respectively,Lastly,the nonlinear system's characteristies between fault outputs and measuring inputs in different subspaces have been obtained by processing off- line learning.Testing shows the network has generalization-performance and can improve the robustness and validity in nonlinear system's diagnosis.

Fuzzy Sets and Systems

Abstract:A neural-network-based fuzzy system (NNFS) is proposed in this paper. It is a self-organizing neural-network which can partition the input spaces in a flexible way, based on the distribution of the training data in order to reduce the number of rules without any loss of modeling accuracy. Associated with the NNFS is a two-phase hybrid learning algorithm which utilizes a nearest-neighborhood clustering scheme for both structure learning and initial parameters setting and a gradient descent method for fine tuning the parameters of the NNFS. By combining the above two methods, the learning speed converges much faster than the original back-propagation algorithm. Simulation results suggest that the NNFS has merots of simple structure, fast learning speed, few fuzzy logic rules and relatively high modeling accuracy. Finally, the NNFS is applied to the construction of the soft sensor for a distillation column.

Abstract:This paper described fuzzy inference system and its application to nonlinear system modeling. A new algorithm for learning fuzzy rules was presented. The algorithm partitioned input data into some clusters by competitive learning, determined the decision margins for each input cluster, and learned the fuzzy rules for each input local region. The adaptive fuzzy inference method for the fuzzy rules was proposed.

Abstract:In view of the current application deficiency of neuro-fuzzy network,a new optimal method of neuro-fuzzy network based on variable precision rough set is presented and its application in complex systems modeling is discussed.This method takes the β classification accuracy of variable precision rough set theory as information function to select the condition attribute,and then modeling data are discredited through selecting a proper precision to forms a decision table.Finally,the significant attributes and the key attribute values are extract from the decision table by using reduction algorithm based on variable precision,and are map pad into the fuzzy rules.It simplifies the fuzzy rules and therefore optimize the structure of neuro-fuzzy network effectively,reducing the training time of neural network greatly and improving the precision of training.This method has been applied to the modeling of non-linear time-delay system with a large number of sampling data,the validity and feasibility of this method is demonstrated by an example of modeling.

Abstract:This paper analyses in detail and synthesizes the different realization methods of adaptive neural-fuzzy inference system by means of the typical example of nonlinear system identification. First, the selection principle for the fuzzy wodel's number of input variables is analyzed by making use of the searching tree. Then, different features in the aspects of structure identification of fuzzy model using the clustering and means-clustering are compared. The relationships among the numbers of samples, fuzzy model parameters and the ability of generalization of the fuzzy model are analyzed, and the comparison of the test results of models shows the complexity of generalization ability of parallel model.

Abstract:A kind of fuzzy neural network (FNN) adaptive control law was proposed for a class of nonlinear multivariable system that includes unknown functions and external disturbance. The FNN is used to identify unknown functions of the system. The learning law of the unknown parameters in FNN model is based on Lyapunov stability theory. In order to restrain the external disturbance, H∞ control law is designed based on the Riccati equation of the error system. Such control law can reduce the complexity and bad implementation of the traditional nonlinear controller and extend the application field of the nonlinear theory.

Abstract:Modeling nonlinear systems by neural networks and fuzzy systems encounters problems such as the conflict between overfitting and good generalization and low reliability, which requires a great number of fuzzy rules or neural nodes and uses very complicated learning algorithms. A new adaptive fuzzy inference system, combined with a learning algorithm, is proposed to cope with these problems. First, the algorithm partitions the input space into some local regions by competitive learning, then it determines the decision boundaries for local input regions, and finally, based on the decision boundaries, it learns the fuzzy rule for each local region by recursive least squares (RLS). In the learning algorithm, the key role of the decision boundaries is highly emphasized. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed learning approach and the new adaptive fuzzy inference system, four examples are studied by the proposed method and compared with the previous results

Abstract:We propose a new self tuning fuzzy modeling by means of fuzzy clustering. Based on fuzzy clustering, the adaptive fuzzy inference is used to modify the fuzzy system. Moreover, based on this modified fuzzy system, the paper presents an on line identifying algorithm with which the on line parameter estimation of nonlinear system is realized. To demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method, simulation results relative to a few examples are presented in the end.

Abstract:The traditional modeling methods are hard to identify the nonlinear system like in-well environment simulation system which is multivariable, stochastic, strong coupling and large time delay. Thus, it is difficult to express complex system and implement the whole optimal control accurately. This paper proposes a kind of fuzzy identification method based on improved clustering algorithm in connection with the traditional fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm's defects which are sensitive to the initial value and unable to definite the optimum rule numbers. The method determines initial clustering centers by the subtractive clustering and the validity function, then finds the final clustering centers by the global fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm. Subsequently the suitable area radius by the principle of nearest neighbor is formulated. The system T-S model by weighted recursive least-square method is built finally. In this paper, the temperature model of in-well environment simulation system is proposed to illustrate the method accurate and effective.

Abstract:By combining the fuzzy theory and neural network technology, a fuzzy neural network (FNN) is proposed in this paper, whose learning algorithms are developed by steep algorithm. The excitation system model based on FNN is also derived in this paper, which can be used for on-line and off-line analysis and control respectively. The simulation results demonstrate that the FNN models can give precise estimation of practical excitation system.

Abstract:Many nonlinear dynamical systems are usually lack of abundant datasets since the data acquiring process is time consuming. It is difficult to utilize the incomplete datasets to build an effective data-driven model to improve the industry productivity. To overcome this problem, a data-knowledge-based fuzzy neural network (DK-FNN) was developed in this article. Compared with the existing methods, the proposed DK-FNN consists of the following obvious advantages. First, through the multilayered connectionist structure, this proposed DK-FNN could not only make full use of the data from the current scene, but also use the existing knowledge from the source scene to improve the learning performance. Second, an integrated-form transfer learning (ITL) method was developed to improve the learning performance of DK-FNN. This first reported ITL method was able to integrate the internal information from the datasets in the source scene and the knowledge from the current scene to offset the data shortage in the learning process. Third, a mutual attraction strategy (MAS) was designed to balance the difference of data distributions to reduce the identification errors of DK-FNN. Then, the proposed DK-FNN was able to satisfy the nonlinear dynamical systems. Finally, the effectiveness and the merit of DK-FNN were validated by applying it to several practical systems.
